Default Project Log of 90 CRX HF with a JDM h22a swap!!! 10 lbs of **** into a 5 lb bag!!!

The project is to fit 10 lbs of **** into a 5 lb bag. AKA h22a swap into 2nd gen CRX. I will have a detailed write up with good photos. It will take me about 2-3 weeks to do the swap and about 4-5 days for the wirring to be done obd0-obd1. I am just waiting on the JDM h22a transmission and it should be here Friday if not then early next week. Soon as I get it the d15b will be yanked. Going from 60 whp to 180 whp 3x the stock engine will be realllllly nice. Below is what the project consists of. The Goal is to break into the 13's with minimal to no mods on street tires.

93 JDM h22a engine and transmission obd1

88-89 Integra axles, 90-93 F series Accord midshaft, Custom everything!

Engine work

KMS SS valves both intake and exhaust
Stage 2 pNp by me
30k mill of the head should be close with headgasket to 11-1 range
Stock else

Parts

8 lb Fidanza flywheel
Stage 3 XTD clutch kit
1 lb altenator only unorthodox crank pulley
Skunk2 cam gears
Spoon chipped JDM p13 ecu
Custom traction bar system

Stock JDM header and downpipe
2" exhaust with cherry bomb side exit (short-term use)

Goodies to complete the project!

Custom ebay B series to EF mounts, that will modded big time for the h22a

May, 7 - broke the engine down, next is take head apart and have it semi built with valves and pNp and clean the engine. The engine looks good so far ports look evenly far as how it was ran and no sparkles when i drained the oil which is a good thing!

The oil cooler was a nice find, I am assuming all jdm obd1 h22a had them.

Thought I'd show off my handy work of a previous customers b series head!

May 5- I got my jdm h22a tranny today was quite happy m2b4 I'll post a pic of it today. Reallllllly clean looking! came with everything that I needed including a starter! My guess by the looks 20-40k on it. So clean I dont even need to gas it up. Plus I got a 3 month warrantee. Not bad for $800 shipped. Thanks Eric Japan.

800 bucks is pretty good. Does it have an LSD? Did you buy the tranny seperate from the motor? Whare did you get it from? (Sorry for so many ?s)

M2B4 tranny is the H22 LSD tranny. M2A4 is non-LSD H22 Tranny. I'm assuming it has LSD, unless someone played a really mean joke on him. 800 shipped is a damn good deal on a M2B4.

HAHA great news I found out the transmission was in deed a LSD jdm h22a transmission I paid for a jdm non lsd transmission and the price showed it lol $650 and $150 for shipping so no need for the PG lsd I got in the mail today M2b4 is in deed the code. Yes I did get a great deal with all the stuff on it like starter etc. It's gotta be worth like $1200 lol "Good things do happen to good people!"

May 10- Head is in the shop being cleaned I'll get it back, tom. then I will give it my PnP and I will give it a 30k mill to raise the comp add SS valves both intake and exhaust and 3 angle valve job so I should have the engine assembled by This weekend with all goodies. I'll post pix.

Bottom end cleaned to the max with steel wool and cleaned carbon off pistons

Very Nice . It's always good to find places that get good **** and don't know "exactly" what it is. Seems to happen with prelude stuff a lot though.

May 11- I got pretty much what was left on my list from the junkyard today to complete the project. 90-93 Integra non abs front and rear brake setup and 90-93 accord cable shifter assembly. I got my brembo slotted rotors last night! Now just waiting on the head to get back from the shop and assemble it and I am ready to go looks more like middle to late next week I will be hacking into the car.

May 12- I ordered a fidanza short shifter for the 90-93 accord assembly. I also got the head back it was cleaned and bead blasted I believe. It looks better then new! I also gave it my special PnP I did the exhaust port and mainly in the chamber and a lil in the intake runner. Should flow realllllly good! Head is off to the shop to be built tom.

I am also trying to figure out which axles I should try some say 88-89 teg or 90-93 axles will work or even a mix match. But what I know for sure is I am using the 90-93 accord midshaft F series.

The usual mirror finish!!!

I don't want knock the work you did to your head, but if you haven't already I would take it to a shop and have them put it on a flow bench, so you know how accurate each cylinder is. Head pnp is tricky. Just a tip.

It's been cool checking out how you're going about this swap and stuff. Awesome Keep it coming.

May 15- I got the engine all back together and assembled, You can see my skunk2 cam sprokets and my unorthodox alt only pulley. I think the cam cut outs came out good by hand. I think next weekend I will be droping her in for test fits.
