I'm in progress of doing mine out of a 3" exhaust pipe. If you have fabbed before, please show what you did. I might have to get some steel fittings from ACE.

I used a 3.5" aluminum pipe and cut out two circular pieces (out of a 1/8" sheet) for the endtanks. I don't have pics of the catchcan, but I have pics of an aluminum box reservoir which is pretty much the same type of deal

i use rolled aluminum sheet and hammerformed the ends, i make this to practice on tig welding aluminum..

Aluminum brazing a 2inch alum pipe and JB Weld the brass barb.......

Air compressor filter from home depot. Even has a valve at the bottom so if you get anything in there it can empty out the bottom. Works really well. Not Custom fabbed, but different i guess.

Here's mine. Made from a 3 inch pipe. I also incorporated a dipstick from an old motor just laying around.

it's a very clever way to make it easier to see when/if you need to empty the can.

dipstick serves the same purpose as the side level indicator on most aftermarket catch-can. I wanted a more rigid set-up instead of flimsy clear hose on the side....

just never thought there would be that much inside the can to use a dipsitck, maybe ive just never seen a catch can after plenty of useage

Just wondering: What's in the can? is it hollow or is it filled with steel wool?
And what does baffle means? I hear that alot in catch can, just never really know what it means.

What's in the can are either or both baffles and steel wool. They both do the same thing, which prevents excessive "splash" inside the can when fluid is present.

I plan on fabbing mine up from one of these very soon actually. The receiver dryer is made to remove moisture and should be of good size too. I'll post pics in a couple days or so.

I got so fired up from this thread I went out and made mine today. It is an accumulator for an AC system, I believe it's for some GM product. Cost me $50 so... One line goes to the black box, the other line goes to my filter tube pre-turbo. We'll see how it works.

Haha some of the catch cans look really ghetto as hell... but then if it works what is there to complain about? function over form
