Default High Rev after Skunk2 IM install

Please someone save me money. On my GSR I swapped out the original IM with a skunk to. After everything is was all hooked up, I started it and at idle I sit at 4000 rpm. With a catback exhaust that sh*% is loud as hell. So now I am stuck. What could it be? All the vacuum lines appear to be hooked up correctly. Please HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!

i would double check the big vacuum hose (the one that connects to the pcv valve) once i accidently left that one off and with that big of a leak made it idle jump that high

I did one on the homies car a few weeks back...I had the tension on the throttle cable too tight.(looked and felt fine, but had the throttle cracked open) All I had to do was loosen it up and idle went back to normal. DOnt know if thats whats going on with yours but it did scare the **** out of me at the time. HTH

i will check the pcv big hose but I know for a fact I didn't take that one off. I will also double check the throttle cable. I hope that's what the problem is. Also I forgot to mention. When it sits at idle about 15secs the idle jumps from 4k to 2 k back and forth. Thanks for the speedy response guys.

also try to pop the gas pedal toward you a bit...Some times the throttle cable will be fine, but the gas pedal is pushed in a lil bit..at least on my old EF

I am fed up with this teg man. 3500 to 4000 rpm. Checked the vacuums everywhere. What in the hell is that box underneth the manifold. There is a vacuum box where all the lines go and there is another one that connect to the bottom of the manifold. It is black with two heavier bacl lines. One goes to the block and the other to the manifold. This car is pissin me off.

Sounds like you did not hook up the IAC valve properly, plug the small hole right infront of the butterfly on the tb and see what happens, if it does, you know where to start looking

I pluged the hole. Nothing happens. here's an update. With the IAC hooked up the RPMS jump form about 3500rpm to 2700 rpm back and forth. With the IAC disconnected it jumps quickly from 1500rpm to about 1600rpm back and forth. Very quicky about 1 every sec. it changes. Driveable but only to get it to the shop tomorrow.
Has anyone had this problem with a skunk2 IM?

The black box on the block is your oil breather and connects to your pcv valve.

Mines did the same thing. If you are us ing the gsr tb cable and bracket it is probably hitting your hood. I bought a itr tb and cable //bracket and it now idles like stock

Did you replace your TB gasket as well or reuse the old one?

I have replaced the old TB gasket and also I have been starting the car with the hood open, therefore the hood would not cause the throttle cable to hit. Good thought though because it is close once it does shut.

i have never done a skunk2 install but does the bracket do anything EXCEPT to help with hood clearance? does it somehow pull tension on the throttle cable that would cause that? btw, try searching the archives.. i have heard a few times due to install error, the revs are higher/fluctuate

My oh my. The hood was open the entire time. The TB cable is loose. I did already check that. I also replaced TB gasket with a new gasket. What is a CEL? I took it to the shop yesturday morning and the guy told me he was going to replace the IAC orings and add another TB gasket. He said the one that is on it is too thin so He is going to double it up. So we'll see.
Also I have gotta get it fixed today because I'm taking it to get the turbo put on tonight. It's suppose to take 3 days. Thanks everyone.

Check my install how-to in my signature. The BLOX IM is almost identical to the Skunk2 (if you have a GSR). Just go through and you should be able to see if you're missed anything.

On my install? You can't even see the orientation of the TB gasket in my pics. It's on correctly, I matched the ports and follow the Acura service manual for the rotation of it. I don't have any vacuum leaks either.

I don't know. I just want to get my car fixed at the shop. I didn't replace the brackets. Who knows? I should read up on these performance parts before I pay good money for stuff. I am suppose to take my car 50 miles away tonight to get this turbo put on but it's not looking so well.

here's an update. He has informed me that the throttlebody gasket is leaking. Since the factory replacment gasket has the same bore as factory manifold, the gasket is not fitting right. He is going to make a gasket himself and then see from there.
