Default best fuel pressure regulator

i have a holly 255lph fuel pump andit raised my idle fuel pressure from 38psi up to 58psi.My b&m fpr does nothing for lowering it.What is the best fpr for the money that WILL lower my fuel pressure. The b&m used to work before i got the new fuel pump. The new pump pumps to much volume for the b&m fpr.The aem looks like it will do the job because it has the different jets to tune the fuel pressure with but at $200 each i'm not sure if it's worth it. Does anybody know of a cheaper one or a cheaper place to buy the aem? thanks

Are those both universal or are they engine specific? What are the specs (how low will it go,how high will it go,etc)? How much do they run? What set-up are you using or will you be using?Sorry about all the questions but i don't want to spend $150 and end up with the same problem i have with the b&m fpr.
Thanks for the info.

I suggest getting the AEM, alot of people use it and have no problems. It might cost alittle more then most but with the name AEM you know it is a decent product. just my $.02

I had that exact same problem. same regulator and same fuel pump
what i did was drill a hole in the regulator to relieve some pressure so that at idle it's at the correct psi.
I followed the tutorial here
http://www.theoldone.com/articles/regulator/
keep in mind it says drill a .035" diameter hole but for me it didnt drop the psi by that much so by trial and error I found .075" worked the best, but thats my setup and it might be different for yours

I've done that.I also had to drill a bigger hole then they sugested in order to lower the fuel pressure to exceptable levels.I'm just not to sure it's good for the pump to have to pump so much fuel (to fill the fuel rail and build pressure) every time i go to start the engine. Also i'm looking for some adjustability in my fuel delivery so when emission time comes (may) it will be easier to pass.Do you have the same problem with yours sice you drilled the hole? While we are on the topic of fuel pressure what should mine be set at with 310cc injectors at idle.Curently i'm runing about 38psi and the exhaust smells a little rich. Thanks again

I'm not quite sure about the 310 injectors since I run on stock injectors
yeah i also noticed when i start my car, it has to build pressure and it takes longer to start because of that. Currently I have mine set to 38, and it seems to run fine
I remember when I installed my regulator it was 35 psi stock, or somewhere around there. After I installed my fuel pump, I had about 58 psi on idle. So I followed that tutorial and after like an hour of taking it off and on and drilling slightly larger holes, I left it at 38 psi (40-41psi on a cold start)
Im not sure if that answers your questions, but there you go

i would suggest the SARD FPR, the AEM or the SX regulator. the AEM and SX seems to be a little pricey but the SARD is decently priced at around $150 +/-.

The SX and Aeromotive are the same FPR. Get whichever one is cheaper.

the b&m is a piece of crap... not really a true regulator... more of a riser! it cant even lower ur pressure as u see... the best for ur money would be the aeromotive, paxton or sx which are all gernerally the same thing... i wouldnt go with the aem or any others... just look what the pro guys are using... aeromtive and whatnot

personally im going with the aeromotive

Thanks for all the reply's.So the paxton/aeromotive are accuall fuel pressure regulators that will lower my fuel pressure(unlike the b&m).Looks like i will be going that route. Thanks for the info.

AEM FPR for only$139!!! at importhorizon.com no group buys needed...

that's where i kinda bought mine... actually i bought it a another online store for $159 + 6 shipping... but when i found the other site, i kindly emailed the 1st company and pleaded my case.. so they were nice enough to price match and thus i got it for the lower price of $139..

its good to have hookups and INFORMATION...

Does the AEM allow you to lower your pressure enough?

yes. it comes with 3 different return hole fittings and so if you have a higher pressure pump you can use the biggest one, etc.

You can get the aeromotive FPR there. Its the best and cheaper than AEM.
