Well you saw mine already, but I have a 90 degree barb fitting con the compressor housing that goes to the TurboXS and then another line from the TurboXS to the side of the Tial.

I see, so your Turbo XS is inline with the side port, i think thats what i made a mistake on.. I had turbo XS inline with the top port and it wouldnt control boost.. OMG that has to be it.. aight now i have to go take my car out.. thanks

I'm also not sure about my setup with the AVC-R and tail wastegate. The boost source on the turbo goes to both the AVC-R and the bottom port of the tial. The other port on the AVC-R is going to the top port of the tial. However, there are 3 different ports (of which 2 are used) on the AVC-R, and I'm not positive which two I'm supposed to use. I've got it setup just as the directions say, but it just seems like it's not working perfectly.

Yep that's it. I'm staying away from the top port and anything that has to do with that. I could just see myself racing and have an EBC go all stupid on me so I blow up my motor like a Claymore.

ALRIGHT! so i hooked up everything the way u said mplex but theres a problem..
When the vacum port is attatched on the top the wastegate stay WIDE OPEN... just a big exhaust leak, I dont understand why it would be doing this..
so right now im running top port open and boost controller is hooked up to side port.. the way i had it when it was boost spiking.. I need to get this figured out, please help!

Ok, you have pressure. You have a wastegate. The wastegate has a diaphram in it. The plunger in the wastegate is held down by a spring.
When the pressure on the BOTTOM side of the diaphram is higher than the rated level for the spring, the wastegate OPENS. If you connect the top port to vacuum, it will OPEN the wastegate when your motor is in VACUUM And it will keep it shut when the motor is in boost... this is surely not what you want. (Exhaust leak all the time until you hit boost and then boost is limited to say 25psi or the limits of your turbo!)
If you want to control boost, there are two ways to do it. You can equalize pressure on the other side of the diaphram (how the AVC-R works), or you can limit the seen pressure on the bottom side of the diaphram (how the TurboXS works).
For your setup, DO NOT CONNECT ANYTHING TO THE TOP PORT ON THE WASTEGATE. Leave it open to atmosphere! Of course the turbo "spools faster" when you have a pressure line hooked up to it because you will have boost limited ONLY by the flow/pressure capabilities of your turbo & motor setup. The wastegate will /NOT/ be regulating boost because there will be equal pressure on both sides of the wastegate diaphram.
Also, you DO NOT want to use the compressor as your pressure source. You lose pressure through the IC and piping, so the wastegate will open before you reach your desired boost. Use a pressure source from the manifold, I like the brake booster line before the check valve.
Do something like this:

It might be hard to see the lines.
For Brian up there, here is how my AVC-R is set up:
http://imglib.************/index.cgi?cmd=viewimage&id=49
The one in the top of the picture goes to the top port on the wastegate and the one on the bottom goes to a pressure source (teed to the compressor and side port on wastegate)

basically im back where i started a week ago with my boost spike problem.. Ive never had a vacum source going to the compressor, all have been T'd to the manifold..

Perhaps your MBC is set wrong? Are you sure you followed the directions with the TurboXS controller? The first 2-3 turns only add about 1psi, but after that each turn adds one psi.
Else I'd try someone elses MBC or get an EBC. AVC-R works like a dream

Im pretty sure I set it right, I did follow the directions.. oh i thought of something else I didnt mention.. I never had this problem when I had the "regular" turbo XS mbc, once i switched over to the HP MBC I started having these issues..

if i had that other one i would.. Reason I got this one is because my friend was selling his car and we just traded BC's.. His car is gone now and so is my old BC.. odd thing is the BC always worked fine for him, but the wierdest thing about it is he had the side port of tial going to vacum and the top port going to the BC.. I think ill just get an EBC

So your original problem with the HP is that your boost spiking, right?

Do you have the instructions for the HP MBC? There are two adjustments on the HP model, one on the top like the standard one and another on the side. The one on the side, I believe adjusts a ball and spring, which is used to keep the wastegate from seeing any boost until a it reaches your desired boost level (allowing the turbo to reach full boost faster). Once the boost builds enough pressure to get past the ball and spring it will open the wastegate to limit your boost. I believe that you spike is coming from having this side adjustment too tight therefore it takes more boost to get past the ball and spring. You have too play around with both adjusments until you get the desired results. When you adjust one it affects the other and vice versa. Good luck.

So you hooked it up the EXACT same way, and it's still not working, huh? Are you using the same wastegate as you were with the Standard? I just got the HP and have a TIAL, hopefully it works...
So your original problem with the HP is that your boost spiking, right?

The side port of the wastegate should run to the bottom of the bc, and the side of the bc to manifold vacuum. The only time I use both ports is when using an avcr or a profec. Does this help any?
