Default Input on my welds...

So here is a manifold that I put together earlier this summer. Straight d series, nothing special, logmanifold, mild steel flanges by weir racing and sch 10 els and ts. I notice bmc is doing full penertration welds, but when I saw some pictures of i believe it was shitbirds manifolds they weren't full penertration. Do you think this manifold will last, the welds that is, and any other tips advice etc is welcome.

Also, does anyone have some ideas for log manifold design regarding the girdle peice between the T's and the t3 flange. That thing took me forever to make (just 4 pieces of stock and yeah.. lets just say it took too long.)

any critism is welcome.

what kind of welder are you using. Honestly if it was me I would turn the heat up a little to get atleast a little better penetration.

Yeah, my welding instructor usually puts down more pentration than that when welding tubing, I'd turn it up.

It has smooth curves to let the exhaust gases flow out efficiently just like those same smooth curves let the gases flow in efficiently from the head. Just a crazy idea of mine.

SSL2k - anyone know him?
« on: December 19, 2004, 03:40:42 pm »

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well.. I paypaled him $940 almost 2 months ago (October 25th to be exact) for a turbo kit he is supposidly piecing together for me. I have yet to receive anything from him and he keeps making excuses why the kit isn't finished yet (hasn't had time to get in his "shop", etc).

He first had promised that it would be done in 2-3 weeks. He kept putting me off.. Most recently (early December), he had promised it be at my house December 14th. Not surprisingly, I haven't gotten anything.

He is VERY difficult to communicate with, as he is not responding my emails (i've sent him two since Friday), and since his computer keeps freezing when I talk to him on AIM. Does anyone know Nathan (aka SSL2K) and does he keep his word? I don't want to get scammed, and I don't think Nathan would scam anyone because he seems like a real nice guy, but it sure seems like he's ******* me over. I just want my kit, or my money back...

Nathan, if you are reading this: please get my kit done. You have priorities that you need to fulfill. Either send my kit, or send me my money back so I can buy from somewhere else.

This is getting ridiculous...

If it is over 30 days old them Paypal won't do anything.

I know him though. He has been busy trying to get a car running for himself, let alone making a turbo kit.

when I last saw him he did mention that he needed to get a kit done, that was late.

I would trust him though, he is a good guy.

Thanks for the re-assurance guys. He's a nice guy, just that he isn't responding to my emails and wanted to be absolutely positive that he's legit.

I do know of another guy on hmt that has been waiting 3 months for his kit and hasn't received anything yet, either.

for starters, it'd be hard to piece together a *complete kit for $950. if he is he's not making anymoney off it. i wouldn't worry about it though. ssl2k is not far from stealthmode, so i think he'd regulate for you.

it's a complete kit minus fuel mangement, which I have already bought 6 weeks ago in anticipation for my kit. he mentioned to me that he makes a few hundred by making these kits for people. I'm assuming he's making his money through welding the manifold and making the pipes, rather than buying them from somewhere else.

like I said Nathan is too stupid to steal from you, and I"m in utter disbelief that he actually makes the kits, I"m pretty sure all he will do is give you a Hf manifold, adapter plate, used chrysler turbo, a probe I/c, and throw in some used mandrel bends.

I wouldn't let him work in my garage when I'm wasn't home if I didn't trust him. One thing I have to say is that he needs a new cell phone cause that thing blows and he's on dialup and his computer sucks not to mention he lives up in the backwoods of WI in a shack smaller then the unibomber. He's a good kid. Plus he owes me 22 bucks too for two turbo's I sold him for kits he making .

i sell head flanges to nathan. he is a pretty reliable guy, i have an order for some b-series and a saturn dohc flange that i am waiting for a payment on. he pm'd me last week saying he is having some computer problems. didn't get details, but i'm not worried about being forgotten. he has bought 10+ flanges off me to make mani's. he has even payed me before i even had them ready to ship out!

his welding is some of the nicest i have seen on here. just be patient, i'm sure whatever the problem is it is serious and he is probably dealing with it as best he can.

Trust me I know he's building these kits cause he bought like 40 mandrel bends the other day to make more manifolds and I saw your manifold and it is quite sexy. I tried calling him but nothing but I'll see him tomorrow and bust that ni66az head in and tell him to get his shizznit together.

Me and Cray went to his house about a week or so ago, because Cray bought my old motor back from him. He did have the rods in a box in his trunk (looked like they were ready to ship) and he had alot of mandrel bends, about 3 turbo's, and a really nice log manifold he made.
I'm not sure what the problem is with getting all of his **** taken care of, but it ain't no thang for me to roll up there and "handle bitnezz" if needed. I think he's just lagging though.
I'm in Ca. right now, and I think I'm going back home either Christmas day or new years day. I will call him if I need to then.

Cray- you have his number, give him a call and try to find out whats going on. And you just paypaled him for that motor, so if you wanted to be funny you could punk that **** back and let him know how it feels.

Nathans a good guy, he may just need some encouragement soon.

Yeah he's just a lagging sob. His crx sat in my garage for 2 weeks and he lives 4 hours from me until I told him I was gonna have it towwed if he get his *** down here by 10am about a week ago. He was pissed but he knew I meant business and that meant for him he'd have to leave his house at 5:30-6am to get here. Yeah. He was one minute early but he was here and then we were cool again. I'll try giving him a call again and tell him to get his *** in gear so I don't have to back his *** up cause I know he's a good kid. This kid has more turbo kits deals going on than ssauto has on ebay

one reason y nathan is hard to get a hold of right now is because his hard-drive crashed so he hasn't been able to get onto a computer but he finally got a hard-drive yesterday from my dad.plus, his dad may be disconnecting his cell phone but he'll be getting a new one from alltel instead of gay *** cellularone.i talk to the kid everyday so i'll talk to him about what is going on with all of these projects.

Update: Nathan hasn't made my manifold yet. He says he's going to outsource and buy from BMC (i think from Shitbird on here??). Which is OK with me, because I've seen his welds and they are amazing. He still has to make the downpipe and one intercooler pipe, and it should be done (according to him).

I'm getting impatient.

Be patient? Seriously?? It's been 2 months to get me something that he said would take 2-3 weeks. Let me sell you something of mine and wait 2 months to send it to you... I bet you'd be pretty aggrevated and impatient.

What Cray ment to say is that knowing Nathan, you don't have to worry that you got scammed, just that he is being a complete douche bag on getting things out.

go ahead and file your complaint on paypal dude. it worked for me.. what they do is shut down the paypal of person you're complaining against for 30 days.. and the only way for them to get their account back is for u to go on there and cancel the claim. however when the 30 days is up .. and they still dont send u your **** or money.. threaten to shut them down again through paypal.. they'll give u your ****
