Default JDM H22 LSD EG Axles

ok guys, i have spend hours searching h22 threads. i also talked to David at JDMShit.com
The set up is
93 Civic 4dr
JDM H22 LSD
Spark Racing Mounts
Spark Racing Axles (OEM combo, not sure which)
OmniPower Full Coilovers in the front, (one finger fender gap)

question:
I have been talking to custom axles makers such as DSS, ProFab Design's Tim (I know, I have read the threads regarding him), and a guy named "speedyecu" on ebay. all of them think that their axles will work on LSD and non LSD transmissions. are these guys full of it, or have I been misinformed. I was under the impression that the passenger side axle needed to be shorter due the larger tranny housing. 89 teg outer/shaft as opposed to 90 teg outer shaft. can i trust these guys when they say it will work with both transmissions??

i am thinking about ordering the profab's. many ppl have been commenting on poor quality of the DSS boots. i am either going profab or OEM combo.

i persoanlly wont use the 86-89 teg axle unless i DO swap the inner joint over. typically i buy the axle rebuilt, then buy a new band, and a little extra grease, pop the old band off, slide the inner joint off, slide th new inner joint back on, replenish any grease i spilled, then put then new band on the boot.

so you purchase a brand new prelude inner joint? grrr. I hope Autozone will sell me just the inner joint, because then i am going to have a whole bunch of left over parts, and i will be out twise as much money. I will do what i have to. i am still hoping to hear if one positive experience using the integer inner joint. that would make me very happy. i doubt it though.

anyone want to guess how much a prelude inner joint will cost?

i had vibration problem when i used teg axles . i ended up getting hasport axles and the first go around i still had a vibration when the car lowered . so they sent me a new axle and the only problem i've had since then is that i broke one ... and they took care that too. i dont know if this will help you

the up/down doesn't sound good. if you want to see if your axles are to long you can take the axle nut off and see how far the axle will slide in with the car at it ride height. i think it should be around a inch not sure though

new411: the axle with the extreme amount of play was the driver side, which i just discovered the outer CV is completly torn (all the way around). the inner is also torn.

anyways, i edited my original top post. i am in the market for new axles. looking at DSS, profab, and OEM. I am leaning towards OEM combo because i hear bad things about DSS and profab.

DSS- bad boots
ProFab - Tim Hastings

these were just speculations based off of posts i have searched through

I just bought some gator axles for my 92 h22 civic.
When ordering make sure you tell them what make, model, engine, lsd or no lsd, engine mounts, and intermediate shaft your using.

If your going OEM you'll need 89 integra axles with prelude inner shafts on both sides, if your using the prelude intermediate shaft.

We just change all outside 4 gen prelude joins to 3 gen Prelude. The 4gen prelude outside joins have too long and too big fingers. All other axle parts from 4 gen lude. We did like that on Del Sol. Work well for 9 month all ready.

XV53: how much did the Gator's run? if you dont mind answering, i have seen the website, and heard some good things about them, sounds pricy.

Root79 and 93delslo: i take it you guys are not running LSD transmissions?

the inner joints are the same for LSD and non LSD. however the passenger side shaft is shorter for the LSD tranny due to the larger tranny housing.

I got mine for 550 shipped! should handle up to 500HP. I bought mines from Stan @ Fast-Turbo. He is the autorized dealer for Gator Axles. Give him a call and let him know what you need.

I'm running the same ones, got mine for $475 shipped from Stan before he jacked up the prices on everything.

They are good axles.

very useful thread!

i don't know whats up. I've just recently broke the same axle side that i replaced in less then 4 days. i went with the oem 89 integra axle. yes i got a camber kit and my car is lower. anyone got any suggestion on what i should do? and what are some good axles that you would recommend?

--i took it to a local shop they opened it up and said nothing was wrong with it. but when i drive it i get this clicking sound! anyone know what could be wrong with my ride?

well, a little update. i replaced the axles with DSS level 1's.
it appears the car previously had 89 integra outers/shafts with 92 prelude inner joints.
the construction and exterior quality of the axles were superb.

the car drove 200% better. suprizingly, the car still shook under acceleration, but way way less. also, the driver side axle was BINDING when turning left. after driving 3 miles, the LCA fell off because i did not put a collar pin in the LCA bolt. then the axles popped out and the boot ripped. i am going to try and replace the boot with an OEM prelude boot. also, i am going to refurbish the OEM axle that i pulled off the car. i think i will install the OEM axle, due to the binding issue.

i say you go with some circuit worx/pro drive axles. we're running the stage 1 axle/hub combo in our h22 all motor race car and we put about 25+ passes on it since last year and they're holding up perfect. i would recommend them to anyone!

I didn't really read your post, but I have custom DSS (for LSD Trannies) going into my 92 eg. I believe they are the same for ek's and eg's alike. I've made close to 50 passes at the track.
