For a daily driver alot of people are running KYB AGX shocks with Ground Control coilovers. The shocks are 5-way damper adjustable. If you want softness, get the Ground Control coilovers with civic spring rates. This setup would cost you around $600 shipped.
If you want an upgrade from that, go with Koni Yellow shocks and GC coilovers. This setup will cost you around $900 shipped.
Omnipower full coilovers in STREET
thy have a high spring rate from teh get go but if you preload the springs with about .75" to 1" preload they ride excellent and they make your car handle like night and day from stock. you can pick up a BRAND NEW set of Omni full coiovers for about $650 off of http://www.kteller.com and in my honest opinion, this has been my best placed money towards a car yet
here is a direct link to the selection available
http://www.kteller.com/store/i...5_228
i run my teins w/ the damping set to 8 [half way]. it is much firmer than stock but i don't feel it is too stiff to daily drive... ****, i live in NY and am always in the city. i like the teins. for the price [i paid the going rate of $945] the ride much better than many other setups i have seen...
Eibach Pro-Kit springs
Tokico Blues
Eibach sway bars
Rides like a charm, not bouncy at all
eibach prokit or the other kit they offer
if you just looking to go alil lower with a nice ride, you would just be throwing away money going with coil over or adjustable dampers.
I have eibach sportlines and tokico blues and i can't complain. I also did the rear washer trick for the camber and have a skunk2 upper control arm for the front
i had some friends who all bought tein ss techs at one point, it was a pretty cushy ride compared to say h&r race springs, pair em w/ some adjustable shocks (kyb agx, or tokico illumina's maybe?) and i think u'll be happy.
Tokico illumina shocks and springs
koni red sks shocks and springs
kyb GR2 maxspeed springs
gr2 are stock replacements try agx if your going to go kyb
I have the complete Prothane kit on my Sol, love it but make sure you grease em up real good or you'll get lots of squeaks. Much crisper response is the best way to decribe it.
I have the full energy suspension kit on my 95 ex. They added more responsiveness and feedback of road conditions
I have ES bushings (99 ex mind you), and i love em. The car is much more responsive.
Koni yellows have a built in ride height adjuster. You can move the spring perch up and down by moving the snap ring.
i have kyb shocks, the coilovers were a trade from my eibach springs, they ride just as good, handle better, and the ride hieght is much more sutable, not too too low but low enough.
k sport full coil over setup- you get dual hight adjust, 25way damping(dont know if thats compression+rebound or just rebound) and you can pick your springrates correct?
plus they look pretty.
For my 4 door eg9 I chose integra control arms, prothane bushings, tockico illuminas and skunk2 coilover. Its stiff but I get great response in and out of turns
Omni coilover and Omni camber. Good and stiff.
I have KYB GR2's and Tein S-Tech's. I like it because it improved my handling and was pretty cheap too
I have Tokico adjustables with Eibach Sportlines from a 98 LS. I had a B16 but it pooped out, so I replaced with a B20Z. I like the suspension setup, because it does not sit to low as seen other delSols with the correct Eibach kit. It is a really nice setup.
eibach srings, eibach camber kit and kyb gr2 shocks the ride feels great
I've ran/run a lot of different set-ups ranging from...
1. Stock struts and Suspension Techniques 1.8 lowering springs:
Costed me $120.00, rode pretty bouncy because of the old-*** stock struts, and the drop wasn't exactly even. This was back in 1998 or so before I had the money and the sus knowledge to get anything better.
2. Stock struts and APC coil-overs:
Costed me $80.00, rode like ****, but sat even. This was on my wife's car and still before I had a working knowledge of sus.
3. KYB AGX and Skunkworks coil-overs.
Costed me about $540.00, rode pretty good, the stiffness was adjustable, and the handling was superior to set-ups # 1 and 2. I'd recommend the KYB AGX struts to anyone looking for awesome adjustable struts if they don't have crazy-*** stiff spring rates.
4. Tein S-Tech lowering springs on KYB GR-2 non adjustables. The best riding out of all my set-ups, but the closest to stock handling IMO. Costed me about $340.00. they're on my daily driver Ef and I love them for what I wanted out of them - a mild drop with close to stock ride quality.
5. Skunkworks coil-overs on KYB GR-2 non adjustables.
Rode on this set-up for 3 years on my wife's car. Rode a bit bouncy, but handled nicely and it was cheap. $200.00 for the struts and I think the coil-overs were like $220.00 or so back in 2000. The set-up lasted me a long time, had an even drop, and rode pretty good. The handling was pretty good.
6. Koni Yellows with custom Eibach ERS coil-over springs with 425F 550R rates.
Rides VERY stiff, but not bouncy. most ***-happy handling set-up by far. Fun as **** at lower speeds and on auto-X courses, but at higher speeds it's a bit squirrelly. I need a front swaybar to help stabilize the car at higher speeds because it's a bit too *** happy. My favorite handling set-up, but very hard on the bones when hitting bumps.
7. Neuspeed/Bilstein full coil-overs with Neuspeed race springs.
Wow. The ride is superb and the handling is very nice. There is never any spring unloading like with normal coil-overs, as in when pulling up a hill the springs never fall around and "pop" back into place because the struts are so short that the springs are always preloaded and seated firmly. the car almost tucks 195/50/15s and it has full travel and rides better than any other set-up I've listed except for the stock-like Tein S-Tech/GR-2 combo, which is better in a stock like way. This is my favorite all around set-up and while they usually sell for $800.00 or so I paid WELL under that for brand new ones in the box. they're worth the full asking price IMO.
BTW:
All set-ups had rear camber at -1.0 or so with front camber about -1 to -1.5 degrees and none of the set-ups wore tires out unevenly EVER because toe was set to perfect factory settings of .08 rear and 0 up front.
The camber setting were achieved with Skunk2 upper a-arms on my B18C5 hatch with SPC upper 1.5 knuckles on my wife's B16A2 hatch. Skunk2 costs more, but they're easier to adjust if you ever change your ride height.
zeal B6.. stiff as fu*k and ride so nice
i have the bilestein and neuspeed set up... rides very well
I use a illuminas and GC's 380 front and used 450's rear. that got me a 1.6 60 ft once and on average 1.7 60 fts. another rate I like is 300 lb rear also. I like ITR rear bar and stock dc front bar with ES bsuings
Running GC and Koni Yellows: 325F and 350R and neuspeed front strut bar. Working on a swaybar hook-up. A little stiff for my taste on horrible Baltimore Streets, but great for weekend autoxing. Good trade-off. If you don't autox at all I'd go softer.
Tokico Blues
H&R Sports Springs
Spoon Front strut bar
Spoon Rear tie bar
Spoon rear upper strut bar
O.E SI rear sway bar
O.E Si front sway bar
Knokc of H brack bar
TCS rear camber kit
Ride smooth like stock, can handl the conrners well with my 17" rims
gc's/koni yellows 475f/550r
22mm itr rear sway
carbing 3point front strut tower brace...
-1 degree camber in the rear
-2.5 degrees in the front
1/8" toe out in the front
0 in the rear
Not too bad with the stock bushings pretty harsh with the es bushings....Didn't think that the bushings would make that big of a difference in ride quality.
koni yellows
gc coilovers
eibach ers springs: 400 f / 500 r
stock 22mm front sway bar
comptech 22mm rear sway bar
spoon front strut bar
205/50-15 azenis on 15x6;.5 rotas
es poly bushing kit <-- if you autox in a bumpy lot, they are too stiff i want them off the car for next season.
-2.5 camber up front ... 1/8 toe out
-2 in rear ... 0 toe
i have also used tein ss ... and i discovered that they are nothing but a heap of garbage
have a 93 Si hatchback. Koni yellows, with Ground-Control coilover kit (similar to slammed_93_hatch's) currently have 450lb F, 350lb R. Also GC upper mounts (bushings not bearings). Stock front sway bar, and a GSR 13mm rear bar. RIDES AWSOME!!! Stiff but comfertable, I would highly reccomend this set up. I am bias though
tanabe springs with kyb agx's and i love the....oh yea if you want a smooth ride with better handing just get springs... i kinda miss my stock struts.. but the kybs are hella fun....
This is for an EK hatch:
Ground Control Coilovers w/ OTS spring rates (near stock height)
Tokico Illuminas (set to 4 of 5)
00 Si 26mm Front Sway Bar
Comptech Rear Sway/tie Bar combo (on the hardest setting)
Feels very flat in turns and neutral to maybe a little understeer around a corner if I can keep the front wheels from breaking loose
tein SS coilovers
spc front an rear camber kit
EG-6 strut tower bar.
very happy with it. 16 way adjustable is the way to go.

Re: suspension setups for 92-00 civics (civictildeath)
OK, so I think that is the longest write-up (or whatever you want to call it) on something that takes about 30 min to do (coilovers).
I will let everyone know how my Teins (with EDFC) ride. I suspect they will be a little better than stock.

It really isn't. I just bought some Omni Sleeves for $177 shipped from kteller.com. They feel great and seem that they have pretty good quality. You don't need to buy $300 + Shipping Ground Controls. Ground Control and Omni are practically the same thing with the same spring rates.
Mate them with some decent struts and you have yourself a good responsive suspension system.

omni sleeves ARE NOTHING LIKE GC's. yes they are a slip on coil over but thats were the similarities stop.

Re: suspension setups for 92-00 civics (slammed_93_hatch)
I am running the gab revo stroke 2 setup and they feel really good and are adjustable so you can set them up how you like them .The only drawback is they dont really have a stiff setting no matter how you adjust them and in that I mean they are much stiffer than stock but just not stiff enough sometimes for my liking ?They do feel extremely streetable and I give gab

Well instead of insulting, why don't you actually provide some proof instead of nailing someone over the internet and sounding like the rest of the folks here?

Re: suspension setups for 92-00 civics (Mario.)
I run Ohlins 30point adj PCV Coilovers with Tein Racing springs - something rediculously high lbs/sq inch, cant rememebr. It's a very stiff ride , damper setting around 22 front 20 rear on street (on the hardest setting, its undrivable on the street). It's currently generously low, not sacked.
Running stock 98spec front rear bars upper lower.
I am running 17" Advan TC's at the moment, just trying to find some decent 16" wheels before i experiment on the track. As it is, i reckon it ourhandles anything i've ever owned.
edit: oops i jsut realised this was for 92-00 civics, i got pointed here from the susp forum. sorry to me.

Tein SS is pretty sweet, but for me, they felt kind of odd driving when I first put them on. I did a few more upgrades (chassis reinforcement), and I LOVE the ride now. They are great for the street, but they are certainly not "race spec". I give them two thumbs up for what they are - a great mix for daily driving and aggressive driving".

Re: suspension setups for 92-00 civics
I have a 96 Civic with a B18 Engine. I am in need of a new suspension setup. Because of the weight difference in this motor, what should I be looking for in shocks/springs? This car is a daily driver, and I am looking for a slight drop and anything not too bouncy. I was considering KYB AGX w GC's. Do I need to order a specific spring because of the heavier motor?

I'm kinda considering the same setup. Interested to hear what people have to say about the KYBs and GCs for us that don't want to pay $600 for a set of Koni Yellows.
