NSX caliper on EK fitment problems :( please help.
I'm trying to put NSX brake calipers on my EK hatch. I know many people on this forum had done it on their EG and EK.
This is my problem...
The caliper will bolt up to the knuckle, no problem here.
And the rotors (I'm using the 11.1" inch NSX rotors, redrilled for 4x100) will fit on the hub, no problem here.
But When I try to install the caliper on to the knuckle with the rotors on the hub it does not fit It semms that the rotor is too big?? Any ideas? I took some pic to illustrate the problem.
I don't see why it wont't fit?
calipers will fit with out the rotors.
the rotor is 11.1" which is what everyone is using.

it looks at though the caliper is hitting the rotor which would not let it go in all the way to bolt up

Re: (dantastic)
is your car a EX? The EX should take the NSX caliper. But the smaller brakes 9.4" on the DX, LX, CX, will NOT. Check the ITR brake thread.
OH, another note. A guy that did this said...
you should use the 91-96 NSX calipers. That what you got? Also, with the offset and ****, what He did:
You need EX knuckles first. Then, to get on NSX calipers, he took his EX knuckle, he bolted on a ITR caliper bracket, the NSX actual caliper part, and used ITR rotors (or prelude VTEC 96 rotors) redrilled to 4x100, and this worked. Thats the setup that worked, now i heard you CAN get the NSX rotors on with spacers, but id go for the ITR rotors if ya know they will work.
Sorry to confuse you, there is a lot of BS out there. I can tell you facts about his setup:
Brakes were total ITR conversion (the 5 lug one). Its a whole ITR setup, the only NSX piece was the actual caliper (and not the bracket). So supposedly, on a EX or up knuckle, you use a ITR bracket, NSX (91-96) caliper, ITR rotors, and that will work, with no spacers.
PROBLEM: You MAY have to grind. I have heard stories of people's caliper brackets hitting the rotors. Please do more research. What people have done is 2 things: 1. Get a 1/8" spacer between the hub and rotor. 2: grind 3mm off the back of the caliper mounting bracket where it bolts to the knuckle so that it will be closer, thus allowing the rotor to clear.
Oh, and your NSX rotors diameter is ok, its the offset that causes the problem, which is why u can use ITR rotors, or Lude VTEC rotors, as they are also 11.1"

i think the nsx rotors might be too big... i remember emerica doing something simliar but with prelude vtec rotors redrilled to 4x100 and itr calipers....

When you get this all set and figured out can you just make one post with all the parts we need to do this conversion. I hope you fix your problem.
Thanks

Re: (Redline96LX)
Redline96LX and dantastic, both of you are correct.
I do have a DX and forgot that EX has bigger stock rotors compared to the DX. To confirm I tried the NSX caliper on my friend's 99 EX and the mounting tabs on the EX knuckles were longer so they were able to clear the 11.1" rotors.
Here is a pic.

Read this thread...its similar to what you need to know. It's the most informative one about break swaps. It might not have your exact answer, but trust me, you'll learn enough to come up with your own conclusion of what you need to fix, or swap, or add, or grind

for your setup, you either need EX, SI or GSR knuckles for the calipers to fit correctly. After you get those, you will also need to shave about 2-3mm off the back of the caliper bracket for the rotor to be centered in the caliper.
ITR rotors are 23mm thick while NSX/Legend rotors are 28mm.
Legend calipers are actually bigger/better than NSX calipers, but NSX calipers have cooling fins and the NSX lettering. Also, when mounting Legend calipers, you have to mount the right side caliper onto the left side of your car and vice versa, due to the way they mount on legends ( back of the rotors). Doing this will cause the bleeder valve to be on the bottom, which is bad, since air bubbles rise...
i'm planning on doing this setup over xmas break on my EK. i've already got the calipers, already got the SI knuckles on the car, but just waiting to get rear disc, a SI master cylinder, and some legend/nsx rotors.
curious, how much was it to get the rotors redrilled to 4x100?

NSX Rotor and Caliper are not just bling.. compare to a Stock Civic its a massive braking power upgrade.
I have got a ITR 5 lug swap, compare to my stock setup before braking power are like 50% or more..( going to get better tyre and JDM Accord MC/P valve soon ) should do even better.

Re: (stripes777)
Much better braking.
Imagine one brake set is designed to respectively stop your average grocery getter which normally travels between 10 to 70mph (legally )
The other brake set is designed to respectively stop your not so average porche chaser that is designed to reach speeds of over 140mph
