Default REVIEW! Action 2MD clutch and Toda Flywheel

i have pics if anyone can post them, my email is Nexxus@jtme.com

but anyway, now for my review

the service:

I ordered the Toda flywheel from KingMotorSports and the Action clutch from Kteller

flywheel came VERY fast, awesome sight and service
clutch came quite late, and they sent me the wrong one
BUT, they sent me the right clutch within 2 days (they paid the overnight shipping costs)

the quality:

both look amazing (which you will see in pics later)
no defects, no marks, just amazing
it really is too bad you cant see this **** once it's installed

the install:

3 hours, no problems

and finally my conclusion:

im taking it easy for a while to break the clutch in
when i started the car up, i could tell that it sounded slightly different with new flywheel, very slight
the car revs a little faster now as well
this flywheel is perfect by the way, not too light, 7.9lbs

at first, the combo of flywheel and clutch was tough
this clutch is a 6 puck and has little to no slip
the clutch feels great tho, doesnt engage right at the floor like some racing clutches and very easy to get use to
the flywheel makes it a tad harder, i stalled a few times within a few hours of driving in the city

due to the fact that the flywheel drops the revs a tad faster and the clutch screams "DRIVE ME HARD!" it's tough to make both peices happy in 1st gear

shifting feels amazing, even at low speeds and low revs, the car shifts with a newly found aggression, that gives you the feeling of driving a true race car

rev matching with the new flywheel is a lot easier, due to the weight of the flywheel being half of the stock unit

i recommend this clutch to anyone, regardless of your needs
whether your stock or SC like myself or turbo'd, i would say it makes the car a whole new level of fun
especially if your sick of your car, which im not, but anyone who is, this will bring some spice to your ride

the pedal pressure is probably double the stock pressure, but it's not bad at all, i actually kind of like it more

once you get use to the clutch that is

i will give it some real testing, once it's broken in
action claims no break in is needed, but i refuse to not break it in like 400 miles or so

warning: this clutch gets mad when you try to baby the car too too much
drive it normal when you get it, dont beat on it, but drive it like you would normally

sorry the review isnt as great as i wanted it to be, but im real busy right now
plus i need to install my

JDM DC 4-1 Header
T1R cat-back exhaust
carsound 2.5 inch cat
flex pipe

Ah it's gonna be a long 400 miles, be sure to give us a full review once you get it broken in

Toda FW = my favorite mod (next to ATS fd of course)

Having had both now, my personal opinion is that the OS Giken flywheel is superior in design and machining quality to the Toda (which is nice but not as nice as the OS). Unfortunately, the OS flywheel can only be used with their clutch.

I'll see if I can take some macro shots next week to show the difference.

ok guys

update:

day 2!

drove the car around a lot today and im actually surprised to say the car is a lot easier to drive today now that im used to it

actually very easy to drive, feels a lot like stock, but with a much more aggresive grab when shifting gears. im sure it really doesnt feel like stock, but once your use to it, to you, it drives about the same

i really cant notice the flywheel much, i noticed that this clutch/flywheel setup is noisy and more so when the car is cold, goes away more when it's warmed up

overall tho, second day testing:
im loving it!!!

You will notice the fly wheel when you rev it out to redline... It will rev alot quicker. Its noiser then stock because the clutch is a puck clutch, they all do that. It will eventully quiet down some.

why do so many people choose the 2MD when the 2MS is more streetable? Plus the 2MS is sprung so it has less noise and less wear and tear on the drivetrain itself. The vibrations also get knocked down quite a bit. I will be getting a new clutch soon and the MS seems like what I need since this is a street car with occasional race and 1/4 mile runs. Please inform me of why you guys got the 2MD over the 2MS. Thanks
