Default Anyone with a Greddy oil cooler kit installed on DC2R?

Before I put this sucker in ....

got a
ACU INTEGRA GSR 1994-98 10 ROW japanese spec. 12051520

GREDDY oil cooler kit. Now it Says GSR!! I didn't realise this when I made my purchase but it was a good deal. I emailed Greddy and they said it "should" (typical disclaimer) fit without modification or slight modification to the mounting brackets.

Want to know anyone who's installed it ...
any tips? or something you'd do differently? If you had to make modifications to any parts what were they?

Questions relating specifically to 2000 Type R (which I cant see it being any different to a 98).

thanks!!

I'll re-phrase coz I dont think anyone's installed it hahaha

Can anyone "Foresee" any issues perhaps due to the difference in spec between the Type R and the GSR?

Thanks!!

Haven't put it in yet :D hopefully if I get some time on the weekend next week.

Just want to be prepared for any problems that may arise coz I can't get parts on the weekend. Will let you know once it's installed then!!

The kit's pretty good from what I can see. All fittings etc @ a resonable price. and according to an email from GREDDY, it has a thermostat as well :D

I have the kit (98 R). I didn't see your post earlier.

I didn't install it though, CJ Motorsports did. There were slight modifications needed to the mounting brackets, that coulda been because of my big radiator or intercooler or AC though. Man I got a lot of crap in the front of my car.

Dude!!!

It's installed :D was pretty clean - no modification required except for the bracket that bolts to the supports. The hole was slightly further apart - but nothing that a few washers and a longer bolt didn't fix :D

So far so good!!

Looks like a really good install. OT: I wish I could live in Australia.

That seemed like a really nice shop, I went to the 2nd King Motorsports dyno day there this summer. Their work looked clean.

im just curious but why would you want ot put a jdm bumper support on your car? if you get in any little accident the results will be like 10x worse especialy lets say if you hit a tree or something.

on the other hand the oil cooler kit looks great how much did it set you back? i may want to pick one up so i can have the bling bling braided lines yo'

Not sure there is a JDM bumper support? ahha Everything you see is from the AUSDM DC2R. I'm worried about minor accidents as well but *touch wood* haven't had one in a few years!!

I bought the kit in japan but I think it's about 450US - when i searched on the net. Has everything you need!

Looks good

Does the kit come with a thermostat? Do you have to relocate the oil filter?

Can you take some more pictures from the engine bay?

<== oil cooler n00b

Where do the new oil lines lead to? Also, how much more oil do you have to use in the car now to compansate for the extra space?

About a quart? But it doesn't really drain while you do the oil change.

The oil cooler lines go to a sandwich plate that goes underneath your oil filter. The GReddy one has a thermostat (to let the oil warm up) and taps for oil temp and oil pressure gauges.

Wow I never knew that, so itll only circulate the oil through the cooler after a certain temperature? Does it ever need to be replaced?

Unless the sandwhich adapter has a thermostat built in, which I don't think so, it doesn't have one. Didn't seem like it when I installed mine. It requires about another 2 quarts to fill the system up completely.

Hmm, maybe a different version?

http://www.superstreetonline.com/howto/7974/

"In an attempt to further lower engine temperatures, we installed a GReddy oil-cooler kit for a ’94-and-up Integra. The oil cooler works much the same way as the radiator providing a finned, aluminum surface, albeit smaller than the radiator’s, for air to pass through and to cool the oil before it returns to the engine via a stainless steel braided hose. The oil cooler kit includes a sandwich adapter with a thermostat to direct oil to the cooler once it has reached operating temperature. "

That's how my kit came, I just got it a few months ago too. Unless it's built into that, I don't think it comes with a thermostat.
