excellent info Earl!!it's good to have that posted up. i know in the past i have emailed you about bearing colors/clearances while doing some rebuilds. one of the things i was curious about was the thickness of each OEM color bearing in order to help determine easier which color/size to try when plasti-gauging. the specs help out in this regard.

I would like the users name and number also so that I might be able to help them to get to the bottom of the problem. Any information you have about the specific chain of events that started with the bearing failure would be helpful also. Note: I started this thread to try to help users of OEM bearings. I really don't give a shit what bearing anyone uses or who they buy it from. I really am sick of the negativity, however.

I'm not being negative...I use all kinds of bearings...but we really had one fail. I already re-built that motor, but I still have the messed up crank and stuff laying around...I took some pics before too. I didn't build it originally, but it definately spun a bearing hard (He was taking me for a ride in the car when the engine seized) and I rebuilt it. I'll find those pics...

As you well know, spinning a bearing can happen because of many reasons not related to who manufactured the bearing. If you did not do the original build, it is near impossible to trace the cause accurately.

The guy who built the motor prior could of ran the clearances too loose causing the bearing to spin in its bore; same thing could've happened and most likely have happened already with any other type of bearings to anybody.
