SlamAccord's (DunkMaster) Build Thread solFRESH 09'
UPDATED!!!
Finally I will be putting the coupe under the knife.
I've been in the game for quite some time now.
Its my time to shine. So I figured why not keep you guys posted.
I will also be using this as a motivation.
Lastest pictures of my car before the build.
The season of 08' came to a early stop due to some engine related problems.
Here are some pics of pulling the head after I troubleshooted that it wasn't timing, fuel, or ignition related.
OH WELL......solFRESH 09' LETS GO !!!!!!
My Right hand man right here.
I'm lead to believe that a valve keeper on one of the exhaust valves failed.
Some how the valve didn't drop, I don't know. THANK GOD!!!
Here are some pics of the Valve to piston contact FTL.
I will be doing a mild build on the motor come winter. As for the time being I will be spending time on taking the car apart and starting from scratch.
I have many plans for the car I will keep you guys posted. Brake line tuck, wire tuck, and maybe a shave. Still deciding.
Just bear with me having a full time job and building a car doesn't come easy.
I'm sure there will be sleepless nights, blood, sweat, and tears.
In the mean time I've been cleaning my garage out. I will need the most amount of room I could get. I will also be posting items for sale that I will no longer need. Here is the pic of the garage currently. What a mess!!!!
In process of operation build space.
Look at the technique. LOL
Being stupid is always a bug out.
My new daily driver.
Can't forget ED's daily driver FTW
Thanks for reading guys!!!

Here are some pics from yesterday nothing too crazy.
Keep in mind by the time i get to the garage its about 7pm and it gets dark in no time.
I was hoping i would have the block and tranny out by Sunday but, I don't think its going to happen. I heard its going to rain all weekend long. As long as I have the car outside, inclement weather will be an issue. Still have some more organizing to do in the garage.
Here some pics
"inspired"
"Still moving stuff around"
My small home tool box. Where I have just about every tool needed to work on hondas:goodjob:
over spray FTL Its ok still plays the tunes.
HMMM What color should I paint the bay???
Something missing????
Jack tipped over and lost its fluid.....I hate when that happens.
Getting there
slapping on the steelies. Time for something fly!! Dubber they are here waiting for you.
She looks depressed,raped,and tired. :brick:
Thats all she wrote until next time.

So today I got a lot done. Special thanks to my brother (ED) for lending a helping hand and documenting. He took a load of pics, I'll be posting only some.
Its was very hot but, that didn't stop us from tackling the build.
Pretty soon I will be in the hunt for a body shop to take care of the painting.
If you guys have any suggestions please feel free to post the shop name and location. You can contact me via pm. :goodjob:
Enough with the talking and here are some pics.
Started by removing the battery.
Good bye ugly Battery tray. :goodjob:
Got the harness off. Looks terrible. Wirecare.com will do this justice :yahoo:
Good bye clutch salve line also. This will be getting replaced with a steel braided setup. :goodjob:
Removing the torque mount.
Draining the transmission. Anything to avoid spills. :goodjob:
Removing the axles.
Axles out. :yahoo:
Removing the infamous "Bitch Pin" A/C compressor bolt FTW!!!!

Removing the seats.
Taking the center console apart.

Now thats a clean radio harness. Shrink wrap FTW.
Began to take the dash apart.

Seeing these pics today has completely changed my mind.

Well, today I got to my garage roughly around 7pm.
I didn't have much time, considering with the fact that its starting to get dark early now.
I ended up pulling the blower motor, evaporator, and heater core.
Also got the brake master and booster off along with the clutch master.
Last but not least got the pedals out also along with the firewall sound deadening.
Here are some pics.
These climate control ducts takes up a lot of space.
I won't be running any heat or a/c in the car. Therefore I will not be reinstalling this.
AAAHHHHHH So much room now. :goodjob:
Got the sound deadening material out. Sweaty shins this summer FTL. LOL
Just about done with the stripping the dash. Just a couple more days and I should be ready to send her to paint. :goodjob:
Got the booster and masters out. Along with the pedals.
Time for some humor. :goodjob:
RHD? Maybe. :what:
VTEC!!!!!!
Stuntin in the driveway LOL

Update!!!
Its been couple of days since my last update.
I've been trying to keep you guys posted as much as possible.
Working full time and working on the car takes a toll on me.
I've been just removing the last bits of interior pieces.
Along with some items under the hood.
Once again, I can't stress this enough. Thanks to my brother (ED) for being there to cover this long and tedious task. Thanks Bro
P.S He also gets his hands dirty. :goodjob:

Removing the cowl.
Removing the hood latch.
Now its time to pull the harness.
Making a pin-out diagram for the passenger fender harness.

Just about out.
Feeding the harness through.
Finally out !!!!

The next day.......
Got started on the interior.
Removing the back seat.
Removed the quarter interior panels.

Debating weather I should remove the sound deadening or not?
Got the dash board frame back on so we could at least steer the car when transporting to and from paint.

Sweet man build man! I quite literally hate interior harnesses, replaced mine 3 times trying to fix a problem. I'm avoiding taking my dash out again at all costs lol (even though I wanna put a EK9 dash in there )

Re: (PooM)
Update.
Since today was such a gorgeous day, I decided to take the chance to work on the car. I went over to the local harbor freight picked up a set of jackstands, an assortment of wire wheels, along with a plastic hardware organizer.
I went over to the garage and got cracking.
I got the car on jack stands. Reason is that i'm removing all the fuel lines and brake lines, gas tank etc.
I'm pretty much sold on a body shop. Can't thank Joeham anymore.
He came through clutch scooped me up and showed me the spot. He even went inside with me.
Joeham=Swell Guy
I will be redoing the undercarriage of the car once I get it back from the bodyshop. I figured why would I go so into detail with the car and not take care of the bottom.
Here some pics.
Up on jack stands.
Removing muffler and intermediate pipe.
Shes out!!
Undoing the harness and lines up top.
I'm beginning to get annoyed at this.
Almost!
Come to PAPA!
TADA!!
Till next time.
Back to sleep now.

Re: (pingar)
Is that the stock paint job?...If so, that's like one of the rarest colors that Honda offered on a Civic if I recall.
Nice job so far, I'll be following this

yes, it is an OEM color, only offered on DX coupes. the 3 letter abbreviation is "ICP" however i do not know what it stands for.
i'll let alex chime in whenever he sees this
