Default 18 lbs in 6 weeks help oh great HT

So let's be blunt, I don't know a damn thing about health or fitness the fact is for the most part I'm pretty abusive to my body.

Don't sleep much
pack a day smoker
Don't eat right
don't exercise regularly

etc.

However I bet came up at the office today between my boss and I. He is a slim and trim guy who goes to the gym about 5 nights a week, and he's trying to lose 6lbs in 6 weeks, from 170 down to 162 or so. So jokingly we said we would do the standard bet of a dollar to see if I could go 3 lbs for his 1lb.

I'm 5'10" about 205

Now this biggest issues are the following

I absolutely hate running, unless i was playing soccer or something like that

I don;t have any cash for a gym membership, debt is way more important for me to be paying down then winning a dollar bet.

So I figure my best bet is to eat right, and figure out a fun way of exercising at the same time.

Like I said I don;t know a whole lot about that but I'm starting off with a simple small green salad tonight, with very little dressing.

So HT any Suggestions for a healthy inexpensive really light diet, and some fun things for exercise?

I'm going to try, running the stairs at the beach ( we have a really steep set of about 100-200 stairs) and try to go bodyboarding every other day

I'm open to anything but running, and buying a gym membership

Thanks in advance!

Hey Ekasey, I'm no personal trainer, but I do read alot about health and fitness and excerise regularly so I figured I'd give you a few pointers.

Eating smaller amount and watching what you eat is the first step. Try to eat more vegetables and high protein low fat meats, such as chicken or salmon. Reduce the amount of foods you eat with sugar and flour in them, including pasta. Eating three small meals a day with small snacks in between, such things as almonds, cottage cheese or low fat yogurt.

Try to replace most of your beverages with water or a sports drink if you are exercising. Early stages of dehydration can actually trick our bodies into thinking were hungry when were not. I've also read that green tea can increase your metabolism, but I don't actually know if it's true.

Eating less will help you loose a few pounds, but your body will eventually adjust your metabolism. Regular exercise will increase your weight lose tremendously. Try something that keeps you active for more than 30 minutes at a time. See how fast you can wash and wax your car!

Hope some of this helped and I wish you the best of luck.

lol@ danger actually knows what hes talking about. hes in shape.

simply put, you cannot lose 18lbs of fat in 6 weeks without chemicals.

maybe water
and muscle
and fat
and shit
and piss
and body hair

but not 18lbs of fat. especially when you are unwilling to go to a gym LOL. People think great bodies are built on a whim or with hopes and dreams. Fact is, it takes discipline and hard work over time consistently, EVEN WITH STEROIDS.

There is no magic.

People may think that, but I don't. A couple of my good friends are in awesome shape, and guess what they're in the Gym almost everyday to every other day. This almost like an expirement to just see what I can lose with minimal exercise effort and an improved diet.

Casey, going on a 1-2 mile walk in the evening, cutting out soda/alcohol, bodyboarding a couple times a week and no fast food would be a great start.

wait, so

your friends going to the gym frequently and having awesome bodies means that losing bodyfat at a rate of 3lbs per week is possible?

1-2lbs per week is generally the accepted rate. 2lbs is for obese people or drugs.

[freak] no, haha I don't believe it's possible without a ton of hardwork, however I'm really interested to see what a drastic diet change will do

it'll just [freak] your metabolism up. you're not the first person that's attempted this. and its silly to do it to curb your interest when there's so much evidence out there of what works and what doesn't, and evidence that what you're doing is far from ideal.

crash dieting to try to drop significant weight in 6 weeks will make your body go into "oh shit, i better store everything i can get now, because i don't know when my next meal is coming" mode. and that'll continue on long after you stopped dieting and have gone back to eating normal shit food. which will make you even more overweight in the long run.

exercise is crucial (bodyboarding doesn't count), as is a well balanced diet that's spread in small meals throughout the day.

If you do it right, you will lose some weight. As long as calories out > calories in, you'll drop at least some poundage.

But it won't be as much as you're hoping, because of the oh shit factor corona mentioned. Your body will slow down, reducing the calories out.

Is it seriously one mile?

Walk if you can't afford a bike.

Plus, you'll save money on gas + wear and tear on your car.

I can afford a bike but i don't want one, and I don't wanna walk to work it's actually 2 miles or so, but it's close probably a 20-30 walk. At the end of the day especially at the times i leave the office the last thing i wanna do is walk
