I think its going to be slightly over a yr when the 50D's released.
Did the 40D come out in Aug or Nov? I forget. What do you guys think about this camera having 15mp on the same sensor? or ![]() When does it become too many pixels on one sensor? |

Nothing impressive to me, the fps is shorter, the 40D burst rate is 75 and this is at 60 large fine. Its only going to draw attention to new dslr buyer and thats about it. Upgraded lcd screen pixels for better viewing but who look at your lcd screen lol and little features. Same camera as the 40D just more mp, the 40D will drop a lot down to the 750$ maybe even 6something. We talked about this camera in class today, great camera. Good for 20D,30D upgrader, but the 40D user should keep their 40D. Nikon D3 still own all of the new canon release by far. Comeon CANON bring some HEAT!

The great things thing that the Digic 4 12,800 iso is iso 800 on a 40D , the iso quality on this camera is amazing. Its a great big quality different vs the 40D, i mean dont get me wrong. Its a great camera, but for the intro price its seems to not be that big of a hit.

the XTi/40D have the same sensor 50D is a new sensor This new camera is mearly a facelift... Finally the rear LCD gets upgraded, a long needed update imo. The one on the 40D is absolute crap. Tinh might not use his, but sometimes I'd like to be able to see that I really have a sharp image before moving on... The one that's on the 40D just won't show the difference if the focus is only off by a half inch or less. Not that I'd be using a camera at it's max iso, but I'd like to have a consistantly usable iso 3200 and be able to use 6400 on occasion. 15mp on a crop sensor is a lot, but apparently they stacked these differently than in the past, so the dot pitch isn't negatively impacted. I do like that the sRAW is now 7.5mp and 3.8 compared to the 2.5mp sRAW on the 40D. I agree with most that this isn't a camera one would upgrade to from a 40D, but it'll be a nice camera for those moving up from older/lower models. |

The 3" VGA LCD might be worth replacing my old XT for. My eyes must be getting old, lately I have been having a hard time reviewing my shots in the 1.8" LCD.
