Default My month old 2000 EX - an introduction to H-T (please be kind shes not mint)

Hi forum members -

I have lurked, skulked and otherwise frequented the forums since the first day I got my very first Honda.

I finally got a chance to give it a car wash and take some pics for my own inventory, and thought I would share her with the rest of you!

I scored the car for $2900 - but it has some issues... although nothing that is affecting my Civic EXperience - I love the car and plan to slowly get it looking better (lots of little dings and such).

I would post up pics of the engine bay and inside, but its stock in both areas aside from the mp3 player so I figured you have all seen a D16y8 from the top and the inside of a Civic before.

Anyways, without further adieu, my 2000 Civic EX:

Please be kind - I know its not perfect, but I have been very happy with my purchase! any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is welcome.. and yeah, those stock rims have to go =/

Problems: needs new Cat and O2 and has leaky valve stem seals.

Looks very good man.Everyone has to start somewhere and glad you got to start with this civic.Keep us updated on the progress.I would go with different rims, lower it in take and exhaust.Just keep it clean really. But it is your car good luck man.

Looks pretty clean man, that's a nice pick-up for only $2900.

What are your future plans: boost, swap or just keep it simple???

Swap for sure, waiting on a low mileage engine to surface.

Then an aftermarket cat and o2 just to get rid of my CEL.

then some body work.. I didnt show the up close high res pics of all the dings and dents!

well, straight D16y8 most likely..

main reason for a swap leaky valve stems cause me to smoke in the morning pretty heavily and I burn oil, and the stock y8 that's in it now.. well I would have never thought a 4 cylinder could be so quick - but a low mileage y8 so far has not been easy to find.

Also I think the timing belt on the car is stock and I got 151k on the car - but I am not dropping the $300 or so to have it replaced if I am just going to swap it (never tackled anything close to a timing belt replacement).

Thanks for the advice on what I should work on, rims will probably be the first in line while I wait for an engine to surface.

The Kumho tires that came with the car have near perfect tread - if I get rims, I will attempt to find some matching the size of my current tires - if that's an option.

I haven't even started to look into which rims fit my 00 ex.

If you get any decent performance rim, those tires will not fit. If you just plan to get some off-brand Pepboys or local-tire-shop wheels then you could probably find wheels with the same specs.

Hrm...

Interesting! Looks very similar to my ride!

The only thing I would suggest is... have those %$#! skirts painted to match the rest of your car ASAP!

And, of course, welcome aboard!
