Need in on difference between RR and F4i
Is there a difference between the F4i and the RR forks with triple tree? The reason I ask is I bought my 2002 F4i with the 2005 RR forks, modified triple tree and front wheel. The guy I purchased it from used the bike for canyon racing. Now when I install the fairings on the bike, the air ducts interfere with the turning ratio. so im trying to put the recommended suspension on it! can anyone help me?

05 rr shocks are completely different as they are upside down forks and much better units than the stock units. are the clip ons above the triple or not?
what is hitting the air ducts? bottom of the clip ons? levers? do you still have the plastic ram air covers on the bike?

Re: (bad-monkey)
what do you mean by clip ons? the plastic ram air covers are not on the bike, it's the rubber air ducts that hit the forks and it's very close to hitting the handle bars the when you turn the bars.

Re: (arconnection1)
id say you are pretty lucky to have gold USD forks on an f4i. Thats sweet
The inverted forks are larger in diameter up at the top than the stock f4i forks so your probably hitting the ram air ducts with the fork tubes when you try to turn right?
if this is the case, id say either shave down the tube and recover it to clear the forks or just remove them.
You will lose airbox volume if you remove the tubes but if you have the bike remapped correctly you wont lose too much power
Definitely dont give up those forks though, thats something i wish i had on my f4i
edit:
oh yea, if the clip ons are hitting the ram air tubes then try using 954 clip ons or helibars i guess. There raise up pretty high so you shouldnt have any clearance issues if thats the case. Its also more comfortable

oh yea youre a trial member huh
what do u need info on? I can just do it on this thread. I dont know how helpful ill be though, probably equally as helpful as any former f4i owner who took off their plastics at one point in time

Re: Need in on difference between RR and F4i (arconnection1)
I'd help you put it all together if you weren't so far away. If they are in good shape, the '05 RR forks you have are much much better than the stock F4i forks that were on there before. There usually is a reason for swapping out suspension, and your case is no acception. Unless someone offers you a buttload of cash for your forks, you need to keep them!
As for the ram-air tubes no fitting properly, you're looking at doing some trimming to them or possibly attempting to fit RR ram air tubes to your F4i. You may struggle to get a perfect fit, but you're not going to lose a huge amount of power if you have to modify them to make them work.
If you want some more help, definitely post some pictures.
Oh, and try to locate the exact location of the rubbing. It may only be on the ram air covers, which can be trimmed easily with no performance effects.

Re: Need in on difference between RR and F4i (arconnection1)
Ok BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!! I did some researching and found out the forks I got are from an 2003 CBR 600 RR. Now I took off the ram air tubes and still my turning ratio really sucks!! Where it's hitting is on the very front of the frame and the ignition post. This guy used the bike for canyon racing, so im wondering if that helped him out on turns. Now I can't post pics on here cuz it wont let me but you can email me arconnection1@yahoo.com or contact me at 559-359-0986 and I can send you the pics. I was wondering If I can just change the upper and lower triple tree but use the RR forks? Let me know, thanks guys!!

pull out the tape measure up both triple tree and see how the measure out against each other wen doing mods like this measuring everything is key. Im guessing though that the larger fork tube diameter is proly some of your problem and the MODIFIED triple tree bothers me. Take and measure from: fork to fork inside, then fork to fork outside then stem of the tiple tree out to the forks and compare both front ends thatll give you an idea of how similar they are and if its going to work or not. Im thinking for this to work you may need differnt triple trees im sure that somewhere out ther that make a tree that will fit your application or is this modified tree is and aftermarket that may also be the problem do you know exactly wats modified about it?

Quietly speaks......
/26 hasn't really been known for anything technical about bikes lately... Bike specific forums are your best bet.
