Official 2nd Annual Pittsburgh Summer '09 Honda MEGA Meet planning thread - Honda-Tech

This thread is going to serve those that will be attending the 2nd annual Pittsburgh Honda Mega MEET!

What this thread will do is outline the planning, improvement base, and structure of the 09 Mega Meet. Some things worked this year, some things didn't. I will post intentions this year in terms of venue, prizes, investors (which there are now three), and what events will be taking place.

Preliminarily, the venue is going to be up in the air. Quaker Steak and Lube did a great job hosting the first event, and I appreciate them greatly. My concern though, is that any more in attendance and it would've gotten a little chaotic.

So, first on the list is venue planning. Being it's a year away, things are going to be slow until this winter, but chance favors the prepared mind.

So, if you attended the first year, you'll love the second. If you missed the first year, you missed a good time, but just don't let it happen again! The second year is gonna be bigger, better, and bolder in every way. Here's some highlights from '08

Here is the video mix of the 2008 meet. This was shot with a 3200.00 camera, but youtube's compression makes quick work of destroying the footage...lol. Just hard to watch from my perspective after looking at HD like quality on my computer. Well, here it is!

Feel free to post, make suggestions, announce your intention to attend, etc. I'll update this one like last years, and it's gonna lead to big time stuff!!

Pre-registration= discount/ticket- This will give me better perspective on attendance, ease entry into the meet, as well as allow me to budget as close to the line as possible

Cruise w/ police assist- This worked in year one, and it's a definite keeper depending on the venue location and the cruise destination

Media coverage- I have several contacts made that can allow for better mainstream media coverage. This could be magazine, radio, etc.

In addition, my second company which does professional video will be fully covering the event for a feature DVD. This years ('08) event will be incorporated into my Pittsburgh Scene DVD, but next year will have more coverage start to finish.

Potential Two Day Event- This could please the guys who want to see some strip action (strip club or drag...preference

). I like the meet atmosphere, and I like to avoid the "who's got a thicker c*ck" bs that comes along with a drag strip setting. I do though understand thats part of what this is about. I'll just suffice to say, I'm looking at all options.

T-shirts- Tshirts bring solidarity and show a united front (you like that

). The more you do, the cheaper the cost, so it's something to be incorporated. One of my investors has high intentions of having meet shirts.

Finally, my "Hybrid-Theory"- We like a meet, we like a show, we like a cruise, we like a hoe...ahh to drag and race. So, the point is, the meet, the show, the drag...it's going to be a mix. I'm going to take the best of each and combine.

I have alot of ideas here, and it's going to lead to BIG prizes. One of which will be a prize for "Hottest chic/Hottest Car". We had THREE girl driven rides at the last meet, and I want MORE. So, I'm going to have a very girl oriented prize that will entice the hottest girl/hottest car combo. Don't try to drive your boyfriends ride, cause proof of core ownership will be required!

That's just a taste, there will be tons more!

My friends and employees know, when I say I'm going big, I'm going big. When I say I'm going to do something, I do it! I'm going to make this one of the premiere Summer Honda events there is....period...don't doubt me.

Haters will try to do something else, put together something else, do what they can to knock things off track. It's simply what haters do, and I've dealt with it for years. Be above that crap, get behind this effort, and start a yearly movement that's truly BIG!! I don't want the corporate feel, yet I want the corporate backed size of a truly big show...and this is the one headed there!

So, give me your ideas, we have a year! I'm starting now! We had 128 this year, I want TRIPLE that next year! A 300+ show is something to see, anything less is unacceptable in my book from here on!

You can definetly count me in again, I thought this year was sick, I would really like to see alot more cars from out of state come...a couple years ago me and four other cars drove the whole way down to the Maryland meet at the Chesapeake Bay. It was like a four or five hour ride, and we drove back that night. Ready for next year though already!!

Count me in. I didn't talk to many people but I had a great time. I'm all about supporting the LEGIT Honda scene with no asshats and haters (although you can't weed them all out) and as you said the whole who has the bigger bulge in their pants thing is annoying and stupid.

Next year I'll be rolling from out of state! Technically I was this year cause I'm in the process of moving to OH but next year I'll have the plates. Again thanks a bunch for this 08 meet and count me into the 09 meet.

That's why the thread is started now. Get everyones mind on making next year. It's a long way away, plenty of time to prepare and get on the ball.

i would say count me in but i wont know if im working till the event nears.
i wanted to go to the 08 meet but i kinda forgot (around 7 o clock that day i realized that i was missing out)
I was also intimidated by all the HT vets, with their swapped and boosted motors.

I would love to say count me in as well, but it all depends on whats going on next year. I will still take place in making decisions and giving ideas for the meet, and I would love to attend, but like last year, something MAY come up. Either way, put me down for attending.

I should also be able to bring some along with me, makings for an even bigger turnout. Hopefully my girl's car will be done by then

Had a blast at the past meet, and I know next year will be no exception. Being the "first-annual", I know there was a few bumps, but '09 will be flawless!

BTW, can't wait for the vid to be ready, didn't really see any shots of my whip lol (black EH3 hatch on blades).
