The Labour ministry's anti-terror bill including a 42-day detention without charge provision barely squeaked by the Commons a while back, with a 9 vote majority provided by the DUP after the Prime Minister (evidently) made a promise to divert money into Ulster.

The Lords, however, are set to defeat the bill and send it back to the Commons, where it is questionable that they'll be able to make enough revisions to get it past both a reconsidering Commons and an obviously stubborn House of Lords.

It constantly amazes me that the stodgy Lords are proving to be the champions of liberty in the 21st century.

I was reading one of the British news papers yesterday and it is amazing the things that are happening with the Muslims in the UK.

The joy of a branch of government that can afford to not be caught up in the moment.
