  Zecco - $0/trade, any experiences?« » Reply  Edit

I just opened an account with Zecco. They offer $0/trade with up to 10 free trades per month and only charge for options.

I read many reviews and it seems legit and offer decent customer service with pretty fast execution times. For the serious daytrader it might not be good enough for the casual investor I think it'll do (I hope). I'm posting here to see if anyone has any personal experience with them and to let people know there are free internet brokers out there. If anyone wants to sign up, they have a referal program of some sort that gives cash to referer so PM me if you're thinking about it (I don't want to spam the forum by publicly sharing it).

Hopefully all goes well. I'm excited about getting into stocks as a young'n.

I liked the free trades but didn't like the site itself. No good streaming quotes, but if you're not day trading that shouldn't matter much. It just seemed to lack any substance to the site.

I'm back to Scottrade, although I'll consider using my Zecco account again in a few months when I'm day trading and want the cheaper trades.

You get what you pay for. IMO the 12.99 I pay at etrade is worth the extensive research they offer. Plus, global trading FTW

Global trading = participating in foreign exchanges?

it's possible to trade globally without going to other exchanges. However, the future will be buying individual securities directly from hang seng. I already began researching, however there's not a lot of information on foreign securties.

To answer your question, basically etrade is a registered broker at 6 international exchanges. For 12.99 that sure does beat the hell out of the fees you may be charged from purchasing an international fund.

Word. I'm a n00b so I think I'll stick with Zecco for now and get my grounding. When I'm ready for more advanced research and capabilities then I'll look getting a second account with Etrade or Scottrade.

Thanks mingjamang!

I transfered some money to try it out. It's BARE BONES. Nothing exciting at all.

Scottrade is MUCH better and the streaming quotes are worth the price if you make quick moves like I do.

As a n00b you need to be paper trading and not using real money right now. You should do it for a year because you will lose money, and I'd rather it be fake than real.

There are issues with dividends going into your accounts and not showing up all the time.

Other than that, I've heard good things about it.

How many trades to do you execute per month?
