I have a sprint datacard and I noticed some improvement when I updated the firmware of my card and got the latest software for my router. There are 3 computers using the connection and its still pretty damn quick.

I have the data card going through a router like so. see the data card on top.

are you sure that you are getting evdo where you live? If you are not then speeds will be slow. The only time it gets slow for me is when they are doing tower maintenance.

look at your connection manager it should tell you what kind of connection you have at the moment. rev-a is the quickest available at the moment I believe.

There isn't really anything you can do make it faster. It is what it is.

There are some settings that you can change to optimize your TCP/IP stack, but the results are marginal at best on any modern computer.

If you had Win95, then it might be worth it. For WinXP and up with a connection of around 1MB, then there is nothing you can really do.
