My computer runs super slow when I plug in my USB Bluetooth adapter?« » Reply  Edit

I have used this adapter before, and it worked fine. Recently I have had to redo a lot of the settings on my computer for some reason. Everything seems to be back to normal, except when i plug in my BT adapter, the computer runs so slow like it is going to crash/freeze. As soon as I unplug it, within seconds, it's back to normal.

Any ideas? I have bluesoleil installed, but someone else installed it on this computer before; I don't know if that is the right driver or whatever (or if it even needs it and/or another peice of software to run right).

Help is greatly appreciated to figure out whats wrong/how to fix it!

Thanks!

most definetly a driver problem.

Make sure you have the motherboard/chipset drivers installed. Make sure you have the latest bluetooth driver for your adapter.

All of these should be available on the manufactures website of each.

Thanks

That sounds reasonable enough. The only thing is I have no idea who makes the bluetooth adapter (and don't see any marking on it anywhere). I'm at work, so when I get back I'll see if there is any info in the machine in the hardware profile about it... else I could try plugging it into another machine and see if I can get any hardware info out of that...?? Any other way to find out the manuf.?

As far as I know the mobo drivers are all the same, but I can try to update them. All the other devices seem to work fine so it might be the adapter's drivers at fault.

when you mentioned changing a bunch of settings in your first post, what did you mean by that?

Well so I turned on my computer after a few weeks of not using it. It asks to activate windows, but then tells me it is already activated (and won't let me log on, it forces me to activate then logs me off saying it is already acivated). So I go into safe mode and replace the activation file in the registry, then re-activate wiindows sucessfully.

However, some other settings were goofy. I have a touchscreen, and for some reason it would now beep whenever I touch the screen, so I had to go into the touchscreen setup program and set it not to make a sound (i.e. like I had it a few weeks back).

Other than that, it seems to be back to normal more or less (a few other quirks).

BUT yeah, the USB controller drivers are flagged (!). I tried to re-install them using the CD that came with my mobo, and downloading them from the manuf's website and get the same error: "there was a problem installing your driver". So now I'm stuck again
