Please show your love for a fellow homie by posting if you open this.
I'm not the best at writing about these things but here goes.
So I get a call from the girl I still love so much but am no longer dating, Saturday afternoon. She is crying so hard she can barely speak. She tells me that her brother Matt, also one of my great friends who is like a brother to me, passed away this morning. At first thought I figured he was killed in combat, hence he left for the Navy in March of this year. I was then informed he was hit by a train, after leaving a bar with fellow recruits. So I have spent the whole weekend at his moms house trying to be there for his family. Hopefully this will bring me and Matts sister Katie closer.
As for Matty though...
He was a wild one. He loved rowdy ass Hondas. He had some of the sickest tatoos I've ever seen. He could ride a BMX bike like nobody business. He was the only friend that showed up to my sisters funeral. He took me the next day after my sister passed to get a tatoo for her. I'm gonna miss my lil buddy. I'm going today to set up an appointment with his tatoo artist to get his name put on my shoulder. I'm just asking you HT to pour one out for him or pray for his family, whatever it is you do. But just think of him for me. Thanks in advance.

HIGHWOOD, Ill. - A Metra train fatally struck a Naval Station Great Lakes recruit early Saturday in north suburban Highwood, officials said. A Metra train running parallel to Green Bay Road struck the 22-year-old at about 2:15 a.m. at an unknown cross street, Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile said.
The train was running express to the Waukegan train station after taking passengers to Chicago from Ravinia Park, Reile said.
The train was traveling between 50 and 70 mph, was not in service and had no scheduled stops. No passengers were on the train and no other injuries were reported, Reile said.
The man?s name was not being released pending family notification. He was not from the Chicago area and might have been from Alabama, Keller said.
Keller said the man had been at a bar prior to being struck by the train, but a blood-alcohol test had not been conducted as of Saturday morning.

Matthew Hicks, 22, of Alabama was crossing the tracks with friends in north suburban Highwood about 2 a.m. when he was hit by a northbound Union Pacific train, officials said. Three men crossed in front of the train between Highwood Avenue and Bloom Street, which is not a designated crossing, said Union Pacific spokesman Mark Davis.
Hicks was the last to cross the tracks and was struck, Davis said. The other men were not injured, officials said.
Hicks, whose blood-alcohol level was .285 percent, was pronounced dead at the scene about 2:30 a.m., Lake County Coroner Richard Keller said. Keller said the victim's friends told authorities they had been at a nearby Highwood bar and were walking to the train stop to return to the base.
