My thinking is that it would be tough for the Bulls to not pick the big guy, since they've always had a solid backcourt (Hinrich, Gordon), and that hasn't helped them much.

Rumors of Odom for Jefferson are abound. That would be a steal if Jefferson has a healthy year. Jefferson has been an all-star small forward before, can defend and shoot, and takes care of a big hole for the Lakers. Also, the Suns have Diaw and Barbosa on the table. Looking for another quality vet or young talent that fits their team. I don't know how much value they can get for those guys.

| Quote, originally posted by -- Sacramento Bee » | This much, though, is a certainty: Kobe Bryant loves the idea of teaming with Ron Artest and the Lakers have already privately considered taking a turn in the Ron-Ron funhouse. It only gets interesting if the Lakers are anxious enough that they'll also take back a bad contract: Artest and Kenny Thomas for Lamar Odom, with minor cap-related tweaking of additional bodies. There's nothing that says they're anxious enough to inherit Thomas and $17.3 million the next two seasons, although L.A. will have to make a major financial decision on Odom at some point. The Lakers had Artest on their Plan B list, along with the likes of Ben Wallace, if the Pau Gasol trade had not panned out. |
If Ron-Ron doesn't opt out, pull the trigger Mitch. Bynum (Turiaf/Mihm) Gasol (Thomas/Turiaf) Ron-Ron (Ariza/Luke/Radman) Kobe (Sasha if he doesn't leave for money/Carl) Fish (Farmar) Theres also rumors of GSW and Nugs shopping for Ron-Ron.

the only way the Lakers get Ron, is if he ops out, takes a pay cut, and if he WANTS to be a laker, which i think he does. ... cuz the QUEENS are going to want WAY TOO MUCH 4 him.. we would have to give up L.O, Farmar, and even Ronny or mihm... and i dont think that deal would make it thru... ... with all that said!!.. i hope he does opt out!!

What are you talking about? money wise, if they take Farmar, Ronnie or Mihm, it only adds to the $14mill owed to Odom. Sacramento won't want to take more salaries, if they trade Artest($7mill) it will be to open up salary space. It is more likely that they would like to unload that horrible contract of Thomas ($6.5mill) and take Odom who will either be off the books or resign for a cheaper amount at then end of the 08-09 season. Ron-Ron's future is going to come down to what The Kings do in the draft, he has said time and time again that he doesn't want to be remembered like Karl Malone, great Forward with no ring. If he opts out he has hinted about also playing in NY, and we all know the Knicks are always up to give a big contract. IMO if they want Odom, Ronnie, and Farmar they have to give us Ron-Ron and their 1st round pick. That way we can get a long athletic defensive guard like um... Westbrook?...

Artest must be crazy if he thinks he is Karl Malone's level. he says he doesnt want to be remembered as a "great" forward that didnt win a ring. Who is he fooling? he is good, not great! if he was to retire now he wouldnt be a hall of famer. Im not sure a ring would make him a lock in the hall of fame.

Artest was on the Laker radio earlier this afternoon.Dude is a straight up Laker fan. He even said he flew out to Boston for Game 6 just so he could have Odom's and Kobe's back. recap: -he's calling from ny -would have won championship with bynum -he'd love to play with LO and has grown up with him as a kid, premature to ask about being a laker -lamar and kobe on your team gives you a shot to win championship -KG goes in a shell when he loses, has a lot of energy when he wins -offended by KG screaming and dunking in Sacramento. it's going to be all-out war next time i see him -appreciate LA wanting me

Quick question: If Artest uses his player option and opts out, does that make him a restricted free agent, or unrestricted? Cuz I believe the most the Lakers can offer him is their 5 million dollar veteran's exemption, a number I'm sure Sacto would match if he's restricted.

I heard this being bounced around today from a league source close to the bay area. Apparently Baron Davis and Ol' Nelly aren't on the best terms up in the bay area, and considering Nelson just got a contract extension, it's very possible they could be looking to move Baron Davis. Maybe for an expiring contract....and for another versatile player....one who can run and gun in Nelly's high octane system...a big man who can handle the rock and get the fast break going from end to end....somebody who can play all 5 positions in that system? Hey Lakers fan? Know of anybody with these credentials? Maybe somebody who's set to make 15 mil next year? I'll give you a hint: It rhymes with Bamar Bodom.

The Maloof brothers hate the shit out of our organization and would never do business with us. Just look at how they traded Bibby for a bunch of trash to Atlanta instead of entertaining our offers. Dude really sounds like he'd like to play with Kobe and Odom thought. The only way I'd trade with the nets is if they send us Richard Jefferson and Devin Harris for Odom, Radmanobitch, and Farmar.

Clipper Guy, your Laker hate is just pathetic. We share the same city/arena and should find ways to be more civil IMO. Posting pictures of AB's injury just lacks class. The Clippers have had injuries of their own and their future outlook at the moment doesn't look bright at all considering how tough the Western Conference is. How about contributing to the NBA threads more than just spouting nothing but just hate?

Yeah but they got back some valuable picks and made sure Bibby got out of the conference. With Artest the market isn't as solid because of his past history and given that the Maloofs have some legitimate talent to work with, they would love to get a guy like Odom to round out a pretty good starting lineup AND get rid of Kenny Thomas' contract. I would love to see an Odom-Artest trade. Yes I realize he comes with baggage but watching Odom come out there on the court every night and see 10 different versions of him in 10 games is killing me. Fisher/Farmar Kobe/Sasha Artest/Ariza/Walton Gasol/Turiaf/Thomas Bynum/Turiaf/Mihm Somehow they have to get rid of Radmonovic at the same time and pick up another big man because Mihm is [freak]ing useless. Unfortunately Walton's contract is so horrific, no GM, not even Isaiah would ever take it so he's going to be around for a while.

Not interested, Mitch said. Besides, I'm a little busy right now, trying to dodge the molotov cocktails Kobe keeps tossing through my office window. Care to bet the Nets try again? And want to bet they stay on the phone a little bit longer? We said a few months ago that the Lakers are going to find out one thing about their team, with the postseason pending -- whether a frontline of 7-1, 7-0 and 6-10 is the matchup nightmare that it appears to be on paper; or whether they really need another type at the three-spot. Though we never saw that frontcourt, it's pretty clear where the Lakers are heading. Odom took the biggest hit in the aftermath of Game 6. If L.A. moves anybody, it shall be him, because Pau Gasol is best suited for the four-spot anyway. But is RJ the right replacement at the 3? If the Lakers figure to meet up with Paul Pierce again next June, there's no one better. Nets fans know that better than anyone. |
