I have an internet speed question.« » Reply  Edit

I rarely download any large files. I do watch videos on you tube and some pron. I currently have a cable modem but now the cable company offers a lite version.
Since the main reason I have internet is for online gaming. Will I have any trouble playing COD4 online with this service? I live in a house so my connection comes straight from the pole and I never have problems, like I did when I had an apartment. BTW my PS3 is hard wired.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestors to burn the flag.

Well we have cincinnati bell here which is a division of AT&T. I called about getting Zoomtown when I bought the house. I do not have a phone line coming into the house for some reason. They wanted $70 to run a phone line.

That is what I pay now. The problem is I do not use the phone line at all. I have a company phone and they never say anything about the minutes i use. I never watch cable either. I just do not seem to have time. I just can not justify paying 150 a month and only using the internet.

Thats similar to my Verizon DSL speeds, its actually EXACT to my current speed. i used to play All 4 Socoms with no problems. if their were large games with alot of people it would lag slightly but not bad at all. I dont think you will have any problems.

what kind of connection do you have??

i'm running a basic upgraded cable internet connection that's supposedly rated at 8mbps from comcast but it's rare that i ever see speeds that high. my connection fluctuates between 2-7 mbps. i'm up in snohomish. sorry for thread jacking

Comcast cable

Here is proof:

I don't know why I have such a high speed since I didn't order any speed booster package or anything.

The internet is fine and money saving for you, you just cant host.

And for comcast, their powerboost, whichs boosts your connection from 6mbps to #$!$!$ lasts for a few mins only or up to 5mb-10mb downloaded file before it starts to slow down back to ur package.

actually unlike having an interest in good looking and fast cars, (which is why you and I are here) having a fast internet connection actually has a purpose

some of us do a lot of file downloading, and being able to download a peticular file that would take one hour for some of us and 5 minutes for others, is quite a big difference in the real world and can let you accomplish things faster.

this thread is not deserving of your not so amusing picture

8mb down and 2mb up I think? the default comcast speed

It's funny because I can play an online game and be downloading a file with very little lag.
