| How has he 'gone too far' ??? Just because of the album title??? Are you serious?! Listen to the damn music. How can people not be "down" with him using 'the n word' ? Guess what.. THE GUY IS BLACK. How can a black person go too far with that word??? He's writing work thats far more intelligent than 99% of commercial rappers out there. He's doing the damn 'game' a service. Have you not noticed that word has been used a few times (haha) in other rap songs.. and definitely not in the same manner. |
No not just the title, although I sense that he does it just for a rise out of people. First of all, look up the definition of the word in terms of its meaning, not the color that it's associated with. Second of all, there's really no need for such a title except for drawing attention. What would you think of an album called "The [freak] Tape" "The Bitch Tape" "The Spic Tape", etc... It's ignorant, offensive, and unnecessary. I agree completely that he is an intelligent rapper better than 99 percent of commercial rappers out there. However, he gives off the aire that he holds a grudge against white people (and others) and views them as oppressors. I'm all for unity, I'm all for making things equal, but this just seems like a biased claim against the rest of humanity that isn't African American. Yes things still aren't equal, yes African Americans have been mistreated in the past and many still are. Other races, colors, and creeds have been as well and a statement like this isn't the answer. Statements like this just take inequality, bias, and prejudice and reverse them or make things worse.
That's just my .02. I admire Nas as an artist, he's brilliant, however this is just an ignorant statement. It's using negativity in order to gain publicity in making a statement or claim, it's too much. I expected something more intelligent from Nas.
