You answered you own question. More displacement = more fuel, not more octane. 87 will be fine.

Is crap mileage a common problem for B16's?Could always put a D16 in it. Mine feels better in low RPM compared to my friends stock EM1 (I'm faster than him too ). 47mpg with a worn out engine and close gear set is nice.

i have no idea but i have this b16 motor forever now and it hogs gas, my brother in law had a b16 in his delsol and he claims to get 350 miles per full tank. i call that BS. i know that my old b20vtec swap had better gas mileage than this b16. D16 sounds good, but i need 2 cams.

i could imaging the wieght of the DA is what's making the b16 hog gas. My b16 is in a 94 cx hatch and it's pretty bad already.

what about keeping your foot off of the skinny pedal instead of worrying about octanes!! Just say its 30 cents more/gallon ( its not here) times 10 gallons, thats 3 dollars a fill up. Does that REALLY make a difference?cmon guys your driving cars that get 30+ Miles per gallon. I currently drive an 08 silverado. ($85 fillups) BUT I have ran many hondas in my day, the least fuel effiecient of each being a supercharge rsx-s and that thing got mid 20 mpgs. Even my fully built ls/vtec was getting 30 mpg in a full weight 99 SI. Its all about how much throttle you use if you want to save money. OR switch to a d15. I also owned a 92 hatch beater that averaged ATLEAST 38 mpg per tank of mixed driving and that was BEATING it up. it got 57 mpg on 2 trips to Myrtle Beach. I guess my point is there is better ways to save money on fuel besides octane, thats displacement and or power output, vehicle weight, etc.

[QUOTE=Used2beAb16]what about keeping your foot off of the skinny pedal instead of worrying about octanes!! QUOTE] dude i drive like an old lady, i barely touch the pedal. even tho it's only 3 bucks more, it all adds up in tha months period, i think i probably pump at least 10 times or more in a month, i drive 30mins to work and back everyday and it takes up almost half tank each time i get back home. thats 30 or more bucks in a month if i use 91oct so yeah it matters to me. 30 bucks can go for my freaken fishing tripp!!
