hi yal, I just picked up a 6pt bolt in cage, anyone know beside just bolting it straight in, if there is any special technique i should do or any tip that would help me properly install the cage? is their any trick or is it pretty much straight foward?
Also, when I prefitted it together, i noticed that the dropdown forward bars seem to hit the roof panel ? I thought these were straight bolt in??? Though i dont care to much about the panels, I could go either way.
What is currently in the car; rug stock seats door panels no rear interior

the front down bars are pretty close to you so make sure you pad it all correctly. As far as installation..... install the roll hoop first and then follow with the rest. And if i can remember i think you have to say bye bye to your door panels. Make sure you really need this cage because a DD with this type of cage can be more fatal than safe on the streets.
cool, thanks dude, yeah, i know, a lot of peeps mentioned that it is a bit risk for daily driving, but i take my chances since i only drive it from how to work and thats it. i have another car that use as a daily driver as well. I am also that much of an alert driver then most people are, you can say, paronoid sometimes when im city driving. i was planning on using SFI-45.1 roll bar padding for any bars next to me.
i have noticed that my door panel is some what touching the lower floor bars. but it also looks like it made a nice little "bar" crease in it while i was test fitting it. i hope it works out though once i fully install it.
anyother tips out there?

Do you even race the car?? do you do HPDE's even? If not please reconsider the cage. Regardless if it's driven on the street use a 4 point if anything. I see in your sig that a drunk driver wrote off your last car. You can be the most alert driver in the world but if that was to happen again with a full roll cage and no helmet, you probably wouldn't walk away.
yeah, drunk driver rear ended it, i was in vegas, my brother took the car out for a joy ride with out my permission, car gotta flat (bad crossmember screwed with allignment at the time) so he pulled over on the freeway (which i never do) and while he was pulling the spare out, dd came out of no where and my bro jumped in time to escape the rear end impact! so that wasnt me but still i do under stand the chances but its something that i am willing to risk. i do plan on racing the car for furture events, if have done some track time at willow and iv been doing lonely canyon runs since i was 16. though i dont of course push my limits on the streets, only on track, for my own comfort, i fell better having a 6pt on deck.

Yes, don't run a full-cage. I know it looks cool, and that's probably the purpose here, but if it's a street car; WHY? The added weight isn't worth it and unless you're running in a wheel-to-wheel racing class, you don't need it.
An autopower 4-pt. will suit you just fine. Added safety, only about 65lbs., and most of all...more chasis rigidity
not really into "looking good" here because i got to many friends that are nothing but show offs which they have the cash to spend on rides and shove their "cool" parts in my face. . un like me, i actually drive the car and i have been racing this car as this is the only car i had since i first got my license. most kids back with their first car dont even make it past the first 2 years before wrecking it! trust me, im very much diligent in to what goes in my car.
im looking to make the chassis ridgid like you said but i was also thinking about having the 4 point in for daily driving, when i head to the track, add the remaining bars to complete the cage. the cage came with a "seatbelt" buckle type setup for the window net, so that part that inserts into the buckle will be there and i know i prob wont enjoy dodging that evertime i enter or exit the car .
i know its added weight, even though i have gutted most of the car, i know it can be a dangerous. i just want to make sure how it will properly be installed and know if there is any technique to dead center its position or know of anything that might help make the job easier or what to look out for

how can you race a car that doesnt have a cage already? caged daily-retrted. if you get into any kind of side impact acident, your done. theres nothing you can do when another drunk driver or soccer mom on a cell phone blows a stop light or sign and t-bones you. you WILL hit your head on the cage and even with a helmet and good padding on, it hurts alot. dont buy a full cage for a street car. a rollbar is plenty.

+1 Well said
And by the way, street racing is not "racing" in THIS FORUM my friend

thats hypocritical isnt it? "looking good" your getting the cage so when you drive your car on the street you want peopel to think you drive a "race car" and track all the time... i would say your just like yours friends
I wouldnt even get a 4 point in a street car... but do what you like... imagine getting hit by a bat at 60mph .... ya thats what itll feel like when cage hits you on the street... even padded... imagine... getting hit by a bat with padding on it.. shyts still gonna break bones...

dude, what ever you guys want to call it. let just say then, spirit drive, or occasional track time once an while if it makes you happy. dude, i know what type of accidents that will get me into trouble with having a roll cage. but you guys really just dont understand the route i take, where the car heads too, etc. i dont go through buys intersections, my house is literally next to the exit of the freeway, as well as my work! im not that blind to even go through an intersection with out even looking both ways more then three or so times! trust me, i avoided a hand full of accidents, i aint the type thats just gonna sit there and watch it happen! like most peeps do!
and like i said previously, im not gonna run the full 2 foward points for dd! only when i get to the track is when i will add the remaining cage.
sorry dude, but i already got the cage. cant beat 300bucks for a new autopower right?

is that what you really think viet? you dont even know me dude so how the f^(k do you know what i want people to think? im just buildin my car the way i want it to be! im not the type that does things to look "cool"! maybe you do because you have brought up that idea? but really, im pasionate about building a proper car! and all im looking for is a little help and not discouragement and the bashing.
all i come on here for is a little help thats all and i really appreciate everyone for looking out for saftey first! but then again, building fast cars is already putting 1 foot in the grave! so all you gotta do is deal with it! i know what im doing and willing to take the risk! like my dad said, "you cant let things (such as getting hit through an intersection, soccer mom on the phone, lousy drivers on the track) get to you, you just gotta go around them! you gotta keep your mind focused and clear! if not, you might as well already jump in the grave because sooner or later its gonna happen!" people that aint focused on what their doing just dont see whats coming at them! those are the people that just drriiiivvveee into the interstection with out even looking both ways at least once! thooosee are the people that dont leave a gap between others when stuck in traffic! being the ahead of someone, if you know how to properly control the person behind you know should that you always have the control or at least to predict what that person behind is trying to do! if you dont, then obviously you aint that good of a driver! not saying your horrible, just not as aware as some other people might be!
this topic aint doin any good and non seem to help except for puromotor! please, i already know how "unsafe and unlogical" it is to drive with a full cage in the car (if you read before, im not going to put the front portion on, only for track), but im not here for you to change my choice and how to build "my car". so if your gonna tell me "not"to put it in the car, just save the dude. im going to do what i want to do because it is my ride, not yours! thank you so please, any info thats gonna help me out in "properly installing" it is what im looking for, i dont feel like explaining my self further on as to why i want to put the cage in the car.

I moved it here because we have all been around a long time. I'm not sure why you are lashing out when people that have been in/around everything you are talking about are giving you genuine advice. I think you are just upset cause you got advice you do not like. Trust me these people are looking out for your best interested cause we either race or instruct people.
