Few questions on SCCA rules for AutoX« » Reply  Edit

So I am trying to participate in my first AutoX event in a couple weeks and I have a couple questions about the rules.

First; when it comes to shocks and the number of "external adjustments" allowed. The ruling says that you are allowed to have no more than 2 "external adjustments allowed" to stay in the lowest class. Would a set of KYB AGX fall within this? I am thinking that external adjustments is refering to something like the Tein EDFC...

Also, I have had some problems with one of my tires rubbing on my rear fender. It has rubbed off some of the rubber on the side wall (not a whole lot, but it is noticable). Would I be able to pass tech like this or do I need a new tire?

Thanks for your help everyone, and I look forward to getting out there!

KYB AGX shocks have 1 external adjustment.

In general for shocks:
1 way adjustable = rebound rate adjustable
2 way adjustable = compression and rebound rates are adjustable
4 way adjustable = High speed compression & rebound, and Low speed compression & rebound rates are adjustable.

For your tire, as long as the tire cords are not showing then it is fine.

Good luck and have fun!

i'd roll the fenders

in my case i just beat the living crap out of the inside lip with a hammer until it stopped rubbing (doesn't work well for the paint though).

Brilliant! Oh, that makes sense. Thank you again for your help guys. I really appreciate it. And MrDomino, the car is on stock shocks and progressive lowering springs right now so that is why it is rubbing. Once I throw the new shocks/springs on I should be able to take care of the rubbing without using a BFH. But if it comes to that I will end up rolling the fender.

One more question, sorry. I have an APEXi N1 exhaust on my car (I didn't put it on)... I read on the tirerack link that noise levels are strickly enforced, is this true at events at Fontana?

check with the local club on noise issues.

As long as you are not running an obnoxiously loud car, you are probably ok.

The N1's come with a silencer, unless of course you picked it up second hand.

It's a pretty same bet that several of the cars in SM will be louder than an N1 on any Honda at wot.

Good luck!
