Possible causes of a code 9« » Reply  Edit

My car has been throwing a code 9 since i got it and im trying to figure out what can be causing it....

Ive replace the distributor and cap and rotor and plug wires and plugs. Ive reset the ignition timing as well. All wires look good but here is the thing. If i reset the ecu it takes 2 days of driving before the light come back as well.

What else can cause a code 9 that i have missed or should try?

ho bag, i had the same prob and it turned out it was my ecu..i got it flashed twice and still check engine but it also took a couple days for it to come back on..i wound up just getting a used jdm p28 and never had that problem again..just a thought but troubleshoot first

Code 9 is either a:
P1381 - "Cylinder Position Sensor- Intermittent Interruption"
or
P1382 - "Cylinder Position Sensor- No Signal"

Start by checking the wires INSIDE the distributor, its most likely a loose connection. Double check the wires on the CYP sensor AND the CKP sensor.

Hope this helps, goodluck!

I have tried a known good distrubitor with the same results. but my dizzy in the other car does not throw a code 9. So i can say 100% it is not from my dizzy.

Then your left with either the ECU or the wiring being at fault.

Trying a new ecu on the weekend with another know good part.

Failing that im going to cut the existing wires to c4 and c14 and re run them outside the harness.
