B18C Turbo runs too rich...« » Reply  Edit

Ok, so I pieced together a turbo kit for my stock block JDM B18c. It consists of the following:

Blox Intake Manifold
SFP Exhaust manifold
Precision SC61
Precision 680cc injectors
AFI intercooler and piping
Walbro 255hp fuel pump
TIAL wastegate 5.8lb spring
Greddy type s bov
GM 3 bar MAP sensor

Car is a 92 DX Civic. Alright, now, I sent my ecu to phearable to get a basemap burned on it. When I got it and started the car it ran really rich, richer than 10:1. It wouldn't idle, it missed and smoked a lot. So, obviously, it wasn't drivable. Then, I had a friend hook it up to his laptop and attempt to make a CHROME basemap for it, but no matter what he did, we could not get it to lean out what-so-ever. If anyone has any suggestions, please help me out. Taking it to a tuner is not an option at this point because the nearest one is atleast 8 hours away, and i'd like to get it running better before I make the trip all the way over there. HELP!!

did you guys try a different ecu to eliminate that as being a problem? also do you have a resistor box installed on those injectors?

No, we haven't tried another ecu. I suppose we could start there, as well as trying a different MAP sensor? IDK. And I used inline resistors from radio shack, 10ohm 10 watt. My friend used those with no problems.

getting it tuned might be an option.

if its not an option, then why are you trying to boost?

you MUST tune it

It WILL be tuned. But I don't wanna tow it 8 hours away and have the tuner tell me there's nothing he can do because there's something else wrong...I want to solve this problem before blowing money on a vacation to the tuner.

Put in stock injectors/map/ecu. That will get it to your tuner

agreed,

its hard to troubleshoot problems when there is no tune to go off of.

atleast if you get it to him, then youl know its not the tune,

but theres like a 90% chance its the tune.

i think he wants to assure himself and his tuner there is no issues here besides the tune, before he drives 8 hours for no reason.

imo you need to get in touch with the tuner and ask him if he made the map for a 3 bar map
then check the pn on the map to make shure it's really a 3 bar

just a couple things i've seen before
