What's the point? Factory alarms suck anyways, so even if it did come with one, it should be removed when you do a stealth install of a real alarm with the appropriate kill switches, and backup battery.

Man, it's so hard to get a yes or no here. That's fine if you want to give me your opinion, in fact I really do appreciate the input. But neither one of you answered my question.

You got an answer. It doesn't matter if they did or not, because they won't offer much more protection than not having an alarm at all. Therefore, even if the car does have a factory alarm, it should be pulled out.

I gave youa answer by agreeing with the quote. You have a gsr with a factory alarm. And soon you will have a stolen gsr with the fatory alarm. The factory alarm will not protect your car and should upgraded to a aftermarket alarm with a quality install. stealth install, back up battery, siren in fender, hood pin, main relay kill and relocated. Not sure what you really want to hear. Pertty much the factory alarm is just keyless entry for you and a cat walk to theives

All I wanted to know is if they all come with one. I planned on getting aftermarket alarm. I'd just really like to know if I have one or not, my car is 3,000 miles away so I can't go outside an check.

As it is a GSR it comes with a stock alarm. I agree with all the above, the stock alarm is pretty much useless. Not just useless, but it can't even be interfaced with an aftermarket alarm and used as kind of a backup alarm. Here is something else to think about, if you did not get the remotes then somebody else may have them and keys to your car, I would replace the alarm and re-key the car if I got a used GSR. It's an easy rip for a crooked seller, he would have remotes, keys, plates for his old car, but that's never happened, right? 94

Any idea on cost for something like that? Rey-keying a car seems expensive.

I seen a couple diffrent year gsr with no factory alarm. It was a add on at the dealership. My first itr form the the dealer had no alarm. But so dealerships had the option of adding the karr brand or the factory honda. what year is your car?

Could be diff. in the US, I have never seen a GSR without the Honda/Alpine OEM alarm, checked with a friend at the Acura dealer here in town and he confirms that the alarm was a non-delete option on the Canadian 98 GSR, however he was also sure that there was no such thing as a "non-delete" option in the US. Kind of like up here it was take it or leave it and in the US it is any way you want it. | Quote, originally posted by beastman@ » | | Any idea on cost for something like that? Rey-keying a car seems expensive. | I have re-keyed a number of Honda/Acura for customers, parts have always been about $25, [pick a part] and it takes me about 2 hr to do, that would be another $80 to the customer, but it is easy to do, just a little time consuming because of the Re&Re. 94
