92 Civic, horn not working...« » Reply  Edit

Ok, heres an overview of my situation.

I purchased a 92 CX Hatch with an aftermarket steering wheel (of course the horn did not work).
I sourced an OEM steering wheel and air bag and installed them into my car for the time being while I searched for the SRS/Horn harness.
Well, I found one today. I installed it, but the horn still does not work.
I noticed the horn wire is attached to the conection for the cruise control. As I dont have cruise control, would that have anything to do with it not working since it is not plugged into anything?
Any input would be great.
Also, I have checked the main connections.
One thing that I have not checked, however, was the horn relay. The diagram that is normally printer ontop of the fuse box under the hood is missing, so also, if anyone could inform me which fuse the Horn fuse is that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

what was wrong with aftermarket wheel getting the horn to work is really very easy and if I can do it its gotta be easy I used a peice of a hose clamp 2 screws and a foot of speaker wire and no problems so far
Also there is a writeup in the FAQ's that covers this

I am very aware of how to get the horn to work, but at the same time I also wanted the OEM steering wheel.
Now lets not get off topic, why is my horn not working with my OEM steering wheel?

Why didn't you want a after market steering wheel?Didn't want to smack your head into metal instead of a airbag if you got in an accident?Lol.Anyway I would check the fuse if you haven't by now.Hope this helps http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1966666

Ok, I didnt want an aftermarket steering wheel. Nothing much more to it. I'm a fan of the OEM steering wheel.

Anywho...Fuse is still good.
Any other input?

Doesn't seem like this should be too hard to figure out.The horn wiring is pretty straight forward I think.Maybe since the horn wire is connected to the cruise control the car used to have it and the previous owner wanted it so that when he pressed the horn button the cruise control would come on.I really don't know but people do strange things sometimes.Maybe the horn itself thats behind the front bumper is bad.You can try hooking power directly to it and see if it works. You really need a manual so you can see how its wired.A test light would also help.
