It's almost never cost effective to tune a car for mpg. Keep it stock, keep up with the maintenance, and learn some driving techniques to extend mileage. A used EMS will run about $800. And like many modifications there are a lot of additional costs that go along with it. It would take you many years for the mpg gain to pay for itself unless you drive an unusual amount of miles. My goal is to maximize mpg while increasing performance and decreasing emissions. Saving money isn't my top priority. Power isn't my top priority. I plan to have this car for a very long time and my goal is to make it into the very best daily driver that I am able to.
