Just finished the project, and the only problem I'm having is the oil light staying on. No CEL, compression tested better than I thought(210, 195, 195, 210), no oil leaks, oil seems ot be flowing just fine. I drove the car a very short distance today, for the first time, and the only problems I've noticed from that was VERY sensitive steering and the car acts like it wants to die right after letting off from a high RPM, then idles normally.

When this motor was delivered...I threw in a fresh 4 qts of 10w30 non synthetic, fram oil filter, and magnetic oil drain plug. I was going to rack up a few miles before switching to Royal Purple 10w30 in order to "clean out" all the old oil and any debris...but I don't want to go any further or spend any more money until I find out why my oil light is on.

Vehicle details; 1993 Prelude Si, jdm h22a motor, usdm h23a engine harness, jdm h22a distributor with fuse mod, jdm p13 ecu, rywire vtec subharness, usdm h23a transmission.

Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I believe that oil light blinking means low oil pressure.

are you guys serious? i mean come onnnn...

OK the oil light comes on if it has LESS than 4-6psi OR if a fault happens such as the 1 wire that goes to it came off, or the pressure switch is bad.

2nd of all? WHO PUTS 4qts in a h22 and calls it a day?! 5.1-2 is how much it takes to fill it up.

Also, may i add something, you wouldnt even be driving it if it had less than 4psi (light on for that reason only) because the motor would most likely throw a rod.

^^ alot of ppl can criticize what i have to say but its basic knowledge, but of course this comes from the 18 year old who has had the same h22a swap in 3rd gen ludeS..4th gen ludes, a civic hatch and now a 4th gen again....but i do know what im talking about, excuse the bad typing tho!

Put a guage on it and test the pressure. It could have pressure but sometin might be wrong with the sensor/light. After my swap the temp guage pegged out almost instantly. Found out it was a bad ground.

going through the owners manual, it says the vtec motor needs 5.5 qts. with oil filter.

I honestly had no idea the h22 took so much oil...I currently have exactly 5qts in it, I'll top it off another 1/2qt and see if that rids of the oil light.

I drove the car...VTEC engages properly which means there's sufficient oil pressure. My money is on either a bad oil pressure sensor or bad wiring.

I won't be able to get to it today, but definitely tomorrow...and I will post an update if I'm able to fix it.

Also...the light is on solid, does not blink, no CELs. Everything else seems to run/work properly. Dipstick shows that there's enough oil.

when did you have a 3rd gen H22 swap???? that must have been a long time ago...

I'll be checking that today. I'm running a new harness just for the oil pressure sending unit, directly to the ECU in order to rule out bad wiring/bad ground. If the oil light is still on afterwards...I'll replace the oil pressure sending unit. If it's STILL on...then the only thing I can think of is adding a bit more oil, because the car runs and drives fine. VTEC even engages properly...which tells me there's sufficient oil pressure/oil travel within the motor.
