Sorry if this has been covered. The search server is down. Maybe you could just tell me what you know about it, instead of typing comments that don't help me or anyone else who may look in here. Since I've never heard of it, the Ravelco must not be the ultimate protection for a car right? If it was 100% effective wouldn't everyone have it? I'm just wondering where the catch is.

You could do better with a hidden kill switch or two. 94

Could some-one tell me why? How would a thief work around this Ravelco? I'm sorry if I sound like an idiot. I've never had a high theft car before. I'm moving out of the woods, so I need it to be safe. I plan on spending about $400-$500 to keep it safe, I want to make the right decision. Thanks to anyone who helps, instead of flaming me.

Just because. There's 30+ years of experience in this thread alone (probably 40) telling you not to bother with it. Please wait until Search comes back up and you'll see why.

You can also use google to search websites http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread/2069021 This should answer all your questions... Basically it's not much better then a poorly hidden kill switch. A proper alarm install would be a MUCH better choice. This has been covered allot so once the search server comes back out just do a search and you will see how beat this dead horse is. Also you might want to check this out: http://honda-tech.com/zerothread/2080798 ...for the amt you are spending you can get and extremely effective alarm installed!

Ok I did some more forum checking. I have learned about the revelco and it's similarity to a kill switch. (although it's not hidden at all)My questions have now turned to kill switches. Is there anyone on H-T that have had their car stolen with one or more kill switches?

I have had at least one serious attempt on my 94 LS, I have an alarm with starter disable, a hidden kill switch for my PGM-FI Main Relay, and a redundant, passive arming ign. kill, needless to say no one has ever stolen the car, the dumb ass that got the closest, bypassed the starter kill, cut my siren leads, punched out the ign., [to unlock the steering] and gave up and called a tow truck, driver was a friend of mine, did I mention dumb ass, he was arrested and ratted out his buddies who had a chop shop, my buddy the tow truck operator and I split the Crime Stopper reward, covered my damage. 94

That's amazing. Was he trying to play it off as his car?If I do a simple fuel pump hidden kill switch, and get an alarm with a starter disable you think I'll be good? I think I can do the switch myself, but I'm unsure of the alarm. Can I add a starter kill to my existing alarm?

Your install is really what matters. Read up in the sticky if you plan on doing it yourself.

Here is a an easy google search of Honda-Tech.com for Ravelco, but with the help of other uses I believe the OP has already seen the light. Link

"That's amazing. Was he trying to play it off as his car?" Yes he was, Kelowna B.C. is not that big of a town, I did say he was a dumb ass. An Alarm is the most effective deterrent, [a properly installed alarm] to make it more effective you add "layers" to it, like starter kill, back up batt., extra sirens. To make your car even more theft proof you add redundant "immobilizers" like hidden kill switches, and to be sure make one of them passive, meaning it "sets" itself and you have to "re-set" it each time you start the car. Keep in mind, any system can be beaten, the trick is to make it take as long as possible, and draw as much attention to the car, [sirens going off lights flashing] when an attempt is made. IMO anybody can install an alarm as long as they have the proper tools and know how to use them, or get the tools and learn how to use them. Feel free to IM me if you have questions or need help. 94

It doesnt workBolting a hidden key'ed switch to the frame that requires a key is probably one of the best methods. A normal kill switch may be hidden, but they can be found. Requiring a key to activate the switch is more redundant, and its saved my car 3+ times. Seems where Im from they will just strip your car right there and take their sweet time, while rappin 50 cent lyrics and using your viper car alarm as a beat

If what you say is true, then how is your method of a keyed switch more effective than an alarm and several layers? (one of which, could be used as your method.)

No, a good alarm install is my qualifier, and the rest of my security measures are my anchors like my kill switches.

That pic is so funny, for the same price of this unit you could get a nice alarm system
