  2.25" Exhaust question.« » Reply  Edit

Am I going to notice any difference in performance between the leading brand's cat-back exhausts? Most are 2.25" or 60mm, I'd like something as deep/throaty/quiet as possible, but I want to gain some performance over stock. I'm replacing header, cat, and exhaust...

I'm talking:

Apexi N1, WS2,
Greddy EVO2, SP2,
Spoon N1,
DC sports,
etc.

you will notice something esp if you geta dc header and a tp to go along with your catback. If you got enough cash you can get a hytech header they are the best.

60mm≠2.25 inches. 60mm=2.36 inches. The majority of catbacks will perform similarly on the same setup - the main differences are sound and looks. For the "best" performance, you should get a 2.5 inch catback exhaust. And to get the most out of your catback you should get a decent header - usually a tri-y header (and DC sports headers don't perform well) and a either a test pipe or a high flow cat.

I know 60mm is not equal to 2.25", that's why I said or .

I am planning on getting Decent header/test pipe. After that, will the exhaust (60mm vs. 2.5") make a noticeable difference? Most brands run 60mm piping, they have to be doing something right...right?

Prove that. Stainless just costs more and looks shiny performance is not affected

Both the GReddy EVO2 and Fujitsubo RM-01A offers the perfect compromise between power, torque, and a deep, throaty sound.

Edit: Look into both of them. I'm sure you'll be satisfy with whatever you choose.

This has nothing to do with the topic, but is it me or has there been a lot of Acura avatars nowadays? It's time for me to change mine.

look for a magnaflow or carsound cat (they are the same thing), random technologies cat, or look into an smsp or hytech spun cat

IF you want Quiteness, Do not get the Apexi N1. I had it on my GSR with JDM ITR 4-1 headers, HIgh Flow Cat, Big Resonator, 2.5" piping and it sounded nice but I just think It's a bit too loud for me. But i say if you want a muffler, Go with a Sleeper look. Less attention from cops. People usually tend to learn the hard way or grow up from the Loud Exhausts and want a quite sleeper muffler. But on the other hand, My friend has the Greddy Evo2 on his GSR and it sounds Nice and quiter than my Apexi N1.

I have an apexi ws2 and i LOVE it.

I went from my greddy evo2 being too loud to this, and its perfect. I hear the engine WAY over the exhaust (which is what i wanted).

heres my car for reference. 94 GSR, w/ greddy header/aem intake

Yeah I've looked into all of those brands. The WS2 and SP2 are made to be quiet(er) than the others, but like my original post says...am I going to notice the difference in performance? On a NA (no internal mods) setup with I/H/E does the exhaust make that much of a difference?

Yes it does make a difference, IF you use your stock muffler with Intake and Headers then all your flow is being restricted by your exhaust. If you get a better flowing exhaust then you have all 3 bolt ons to flow nicely with each other. You can feel the difference when you put all 3 on but you can really feel a whole lot of difference when you tune
