how mouch ignition is everyone using in the cruising area
i have very low comp, like 8.0-1
setup is b16a, itr cams, t04e 63a/r
should,nt it take less gas if you have more timing, so it gets stronger
here is the map, [IMG][/IMG]

I use 42 degrees there, my engine cruises around 400mbar and I have it around 17:1 AFR at cruise. I haven't gone any leaner just because I haven't had time, but on the highway I'm getting ~40 MPG. Engine is a ~12.5:1 CR B17A1. The P61 has a slightly more aggressive timing map from the factory than a P30, I don't remember if I changed it or not.

I'm experimenting with 35-45 degrees timing advance to see what gives the best mileage. My motor cruises fine at 18:1. It may even go leaner but that's as lean as my wideband can read. I went from 37 highway mpg to 47.5 by advancing it to 35 from whatever was on the base map.

Cruising for me is 3000-4000 RPM (mostly 3500, short geared VTEC tranny) and less than 55kPa (right around -6 PSI). Above 55kPa I transition to 15.5 to 14.7. The part of the map that's just for heavy accel is a bit richer, but my motor likes it relatively lean. It's an OBD2 VTEC-E motor. The richest I go is 13:1 and there's no knock. I'm running 91 octane.

You might be able to go a little over 16:1. Just lean it out in the light load region until it has a lean misfire, then bring it back a little, then increase the timing and see if you can go a little further. But don't run it super lean in the mid to low load region. You want SOME power there or else you're just going to have to give it more throttle which defeats the purpose.

You wont hurt it by going lean at light load even if you get lean misfires.

My motor doesn't exist.
