  Prodject 85x95 last attempt at a big B before building a big K. Kingmotorsports« » Reply  Edit

Ok most of you have have seen my old drag car enigne (84.5x89) 275 WHP 173 WTQ. Well two years @10,000 rpm and multiple 11.3 passes with a best of 11.28 @120 its time to go bigger with a final attempt to go tens before building a big K. The only way other than working on the chassis more is a bigger engine with more (get me down the strip faster) torque. So here starts the build thread it won't be a year prodject the car has to race in two weeks so here we go!!!!!

The specs,

Crower 95mm stroker crank
ERL superdeck 2 tall deck! (Thanks Sean)
Wiseco custom pistons cc'd 3.94 dome displacement
Eagle 5.967 Heavy H-beams re-tanged for type R bearings and drilled oil holes
(hey they were cheap the engine needs to prove itself first)
Pure Tuning ported b16 head from old engine (flow master Aaron)
(new Tucker oversized valve seats new bronze guides)
Supertech valves cryoed
Skunk2 Pro-series valves springs cryoed
Crower cro-moly retainers cryoed
Ferrera valve keepers cryoed and guides
Skunk2 Pro-3's
Skunk2 Pro series cam gears
SMSP B20 vtec header
Hondata s300
E85 fuel
Precision 650cc injectors
C/R should be around 14.6:1

The pics

More pics as I get parts assembled. Stay tuned

Very nice project.

One question, you seem to have some large gaps between the sleeves at the deck. Is this normal?

Every block is a little different, I have seen many way worse and never matter much.

Honestly, i told myself I would be happy with 295 whp. 300 would be great but i am not sure at this point. I really want to make at least 185-190 ft-lbs. because that what will make the difference in the quarter. With the good rod ratio the power should be broad. The manifolds that I have intake and exhaust should be good enough to still make some top end with this engine size. We will hopefully soon find out.

If you are looking to go big then why not do 86mm ?

295 is a big goal on a B series motor. I know some of the old pro guys were only a little over 300 with a bigger stroke motor.

I always liked shorter stroke motors , so i hope to see your goal attained. By the quality of your previous builds I'd say you have a damn good shot . .

if you ran 11.30's witha 84.5x89 then you should be well into the 10's with this one even if you dont hit 300hp. what car was that in.
on the deck plate i see it has a gasket underneath. do you use longer rod bolts to torque it down, or is it welded. also will there be any cooling or headgasket issues with the slight gaps in the sleeves. i guess im thinking longevity and not a race motor

After a day and a half flow testing on the old head. Here is the before and after intake chart. This is the same head that received new seats. I would have liked to have seen 305 @ .500 but there was only so much I can do with the current port design.
