Alarm Recommendation for a Cargo Van« » Reply  Edit

I hope some of the pros here dont mind giving some advice on what to purchase. I own a 2002 Chevy Astro Van that I am looking to put an alarm in. It is a 1500 series cargo van so it had no side windows but does have rear windows on the barn doors. The front driver and passenger doors are manual locks, the sliding door is manual lock and so is the rear barn door. My job requires I carry quite a bit of tools on me including a laptop and various Fluke testers which are very expensive so I am very concerned about security. Here is what I would like to do. Please tell me if I am missing parts or if there is another feature I should add-

Viper 1002 (comes with shock sensor)
DEI 506T glass sensor
DEI 507T tilt sensor
DEI 514N Neo Siren (install in the cabin)
DEI 520T battery backup kit (tie in with 514N)
I would like to add power door locks to both doors, the slider and the rear barn doors. How can I accomplish that?

Thanks for any help guys.

All good.

We have a GMC cargo van, we also carry a lot of expensive auto A/C equipment, identifiers, leak detectors, vacuum pumps and so on.

We installed the Audiovox Pro PDL 4, a 4 door central power door lock system, [two 5 wire actuators and two 2 wire actuators] we also installed dead bolts in all 4 doors, [two in the side and rear "barn doors", top and bottom of the right side door] all of this was connected to an UltraStart alarm/remote start combo unit.

We also covered the rear door glass with "expanded" metal mesh and will be installing an expanded metal mesh "wall" behind the seats, they may get into the cab of the van but no way will they get into the back of the van, also where the alarm, second siren and backup batt. is located.

The back up batt. will automaticly power both sirens. 94

With that Audiovox kit were you able to add locks to the sliding door and rear barn door? Or just the driver and passenger door? Thanks for the info its a big help.

All 4 doors have power door locks, I do not have a sliding door on the side, just another set of "barn doors", but it makes no diff. you can add power door lock to the sliding door also, you will need a set of sliding door contacts...

All good, but go with DEIs backup batt. instead of the backup batt. siren. or do both. 94
