This is on a 2006 Honda Accord V6 6speed if that matters. I took this piece and this tube out to change the high beam headlight bulb on this side. I was thinking this lid sat tight against the top of the tube but I didn't pay super close attention. Now that I have it ready to go back together it seem to sit maybe an inch above the tube. Do I have something wrong or is this how it should be? What exactly is this? Looks like a tube that would lead to a air intake but there is nothing at the top except this cover.

Just want to make sure I'm doing everything right and if not what I should do differently. Thanks guys. Sorry for all the dumb questions.

I took mine off also, but when I put it back I never looked to see if there was a space. I remeber there being 2 clips that get pushed in so I figured thats how it got lined up.

Yup just 2 clips that pop in to hold it in. I took it apart again and had another look and I don't think it should sit tight. The reason being the top of it wont fit tight in that cover. Therefore I figure it shouldn't sit tight but I'm not 100% sure. What is it anyway?

I need to give my engine bay a wash. It's dusty. Not really dirt or much like that just dust all over it. Maybe just a wipe down with a rag.

I don't think the cover is supposed to fit tight (mine doesn't). The cover is only to prevent large objects or liquids from getting in the intake, and clogging up the air filter.
