What's up people.....I know I'm the noob, so I will tread lightly. Please help me out with this one because I know I'm not the only person that has ever though about this...

Ok, first off, most, if not all of us reading this forum can agree that the CRV is arguably the leader in its class followed very closely by Toyota's offering. With that said, the one major negative feedback that I hear about the CRV is that it doesn't have enough power being that it only comes with a 4cyl. engine option.

So here's what I was thinking would really help the CRV. Why doesn't Honda build a very modest turbo setup similar to the systems currently being used on the Acura SUV's!? I mean think about it......a very mild boost setting would keep the setup reliable and it would increase the power to weight ratio just enough to help the CRV get out of its own way..........AND.......who knows!? It might even increase its fuel economy purely based on engine efficiency!!

Am I just crazy, or has this idea been kicked around the table at Honda in the past...? Hell, even if they only offered it as a "premium dealership-installed package" (aka date rape prices); it would still give at least a few owners the option to walk into a dealership and say, "I want a CRV, fully loaded!"

Also, since this IS a technical forum.....what would be the best way to accomplish this type of setup?

If you were looking at that route, why not opt out for the Acura RDX?

Turbo setup depends on which motor your CR-V has.

the cr-v has been class leader for practically every year it was available. why fix something that isn't broke?

if you wanted a small suv with power, try the rav4. similar dimensions, but strong engine. and not that much more than a crv ex 4wd.

and to actually answer your question. honda wouldn't go against its dedication for a cleaner earth. a turbo set up will be too costly and not to mention, impractical for the market its geared towards. the rdx fills the void of "sport suv".. which the rdx is (i believe) class leading as well.

Me and my fiance just picked up an 08 EX-L. Unfortunately the CRV is nothing more than a commuter vehicle which was designed with the modern woman in mind. Although more power would be great, it will never happen, 1 due to the LEV ratings and such, and 2 honda has been very conservative with all vehicles produced, IE the new civic si is capable of 20-30 more hp with a little tuning, however to keep the lev2 rating, Honda keeps it detuned. Like the above stated, if power is what your looking for, the RDX seems like a better fit.
