My friend's B16A2 tranny has been having some problems. It is very very difficult to put it in or out of gear, even when the clutch pedal is to the floor. You have to double clutch to get it in or out any gear and it grinds some even then. The transmission is in a a 90' crx with the Hasport clutch conversion. It has been adjusted correctly. The clutch was changed pretty recently (about 15k miles) to an Exedy stage 1 and pressure plate. We haven't been able to pull it yet but I was just looking for some different ideas. I didn't think the syncros would go out in every gear.

what would it be..gears? it just started doing it within a 500 mile span, making it virtually undriveable.

so it was working at one point, but now has issues after good driveability? was there ALWAYS sufficient fluid? meaning never ran dry from a leak? and you do have good pressure from the pedal to the slave??? make sure the release fork is moving. with the motor off, how does it shift through the gears? if it shifts smooth through with motor off, then it's prob clutch related. if it's hard with motor off, it's probably internal...with relation to the parts aquafina mentioned.

Sounds exactly like the problem I had in my CRX except I'm still running a cable tranny. It was VERY hard to shift every gear & I double clutching made it slightly easier to go into gear.
It ended up being the clutch disc/PP - the springs popped out of the disc and a piece of it was lodged into the PP fins.
to 'not so civic' this is the owner of the CRX and when the car is off, it shifts smoothly. There's no problem in getting it through the gears. There has not been a leak in the transmission. I can check though, but I'm really positive there hasn't been one. And the fork does move back and forth.
to Kevin, I'm kind of hoping that's what the problem is. So it's not that expensive of a fix.
Also one more question, I've tried everything possible to get a little free play in the clutch pedal. Could that be a small reason why this has occurred over time? and it's finally bitten me in the ass.
