Strange bell type sounds when accelerating in 5th« » Reply  Edit

Ok this is hard to explain,

I get this bell type ball bearing sound when I am accelerating in 5th gear (im sure it happens more but my car is too loud in other gears) Like if im going 60 in 5th and I push the gas a good amount. I can hear it.

Now i have heard this sound when i have almost stalled and have heard it on other cars that stalled.

It sounds like bells or metal balls taping each other dunno how else to explain the sound. My timing belt is a little lose (dont know if that could cause any sounds like that)

I have searched but donno what key words i would check out to find it.

Do you have any idea where the sound is coming from can you hear it at idle?

Timing belt is a little loose, but no way loose enough to jump teeth.

it does not make the sound at idle

I cruze on the freeway 60+ to what ever in 5th. I only hear it when im accelerating.
I have heard it in lower gears also tho, its not just 5th, its just easier to hear then.

I its just weird cause i have heard it on other civics when they stall, but not accelerating.
I may just ignore the sound tho it does not SEEM like its causing a problem but just odd. Ill just turn my radio up more maybe hehe. Just seeing if anyone else has noticed anything similar.

Pinging? Check ignition timing.

Yes i have a short shifter (b&M) I think?? was the short shifter touching something?

its more of a bell sound not much of a pinging sound but i will check the timing anyway, i checked it about 5 months ago and it was fine but i will check again.
