  06 RSX A/C Issue« » Reply  Edit

I have a 2006 RSX, base model, with 30,000 miles and I have been having a slight problem with the A/C. I recently took it to get serviced but I noticed the problem before the service was done. It gets cold but will intermittently get cool, not warm, just a slight difference, but enough that its noticeable. I took it back to the mechanic who serviced it and he tried jumping to conclusions and said its probably the expansion valve. I do know that the expansion valve is a possibility but couldn't it just be moisture and/or air that wasnt properly vacuumed when performing the service. It didnt seem like they had my car hooked up to the A/C system very long, and they said there are no leaks. For some reason I dont think they knew the specifications for my vehicle either. Any Ideas? Or does anyone know where to find the service manual so I could know exactly whats goin wrong?

California Residents: if anyone is looking to get a quote from Farmers, let me know. i personally know a farmers agent that will do all she can to lower your rates. my insurance with state farm was 4200 a year with a clean record for a 2006 rsx type-s and a 15/30/15 liability. Now it is 2200 a year with 100/300/100 liability with everything else at the same coverage and i also have life insurance, which is covered under the 2200.

edit: it's now 1600 a year.

The car is still under warranty. Take it back to the dealer.

Well i called my local dealer and they said that I could go down there and that they would be more than happy to charge me $90 just to run a diagnosis, which is some bullshit, and then when they figure out whats wrong they would charge me even more to fix the problem and evacuate and recharge the system. So yeah, no thanks, I ain't about to spend a few hundred at the dealership when for all I know its only moisture in the system.

The car is under warranty. They do not charge you anything for diagnostic services. You have bumper to bumper coverage until i think 50,000 miles.

Call again and if they tell you the same thing, get the name of the person you spoke to and kindly ask to speak to the service manager. If he refuses to help you, move up the chain. district manager -> regional and so forth.

yea seriously, just like empathy said, go to the dealership and get it checked out under warranty. I was having problems with my AC like 1 1/2 months ago and I had them check it out and evac all the old freon and refill.

it sounds me to me like it needs to be revaccumed, and recharged. you could trying charging it first and see if that helps at all. but like everyone else said, take it to the dealer under warrenty
