Considering buying this, is it fixable? 03' LX« » Reply  Edit

I am possibly looking into buying an 03' LX with 79K. First off the guy is asking $7500 which is kbb, excellent condition price. He is accepting offers as he is looking for a quick sale so he can buy a new civic si. Well he sent me these pictures so i could see the condition. Tell me what you think:

Heres the bad:
I am most concerned with this rocker panel, claimed he hit a patch of ice and into a snow bank. All I know is that I would want it gone.

I might still be interested but the rocker panel damage is a big turn off for me. He claims the only other thing it needs is new rear drums. I haven't went to look at yet but before I do I want some opinions on if its even worth the effort to fix it. I was considering offering him the trade in value since that is what he would get from trading it in which for fair condition is quite a bit lower then he was originally asking, around 4,900 but would allow me some money room to be able get the stuff fixed. Is the rocker panel fixable? Would it need filler or would it pop out? Thanks for the help.

All that damage is fixable. You can get the rocker panel metal replaced, or probably even have the dent pulled out.

the fender and the bumper isn't bad...the rocker panel will cost a ton of money to repair

With that kind of damage, it shouldn't be priced at KBB Excellent Condition value.

Yes, the rocker panel worries me. I know it shouldn't of been priced so high but the guy did say he would take offers. Well with 2 votes for an easy fix, and 2 votes for it costing a ton of money to fix the rocker. I may still go and look at it, just to get an idea how bad it really is. I might just give up on this one as well and maybe find something in better condition. Really had my heart set on an SI if I stayed civic any how. But if the car and the price is right I may not be able to pass on it, which is why I even bothered considering this car.

7500 is too much in my opinion. i'd offer him 5000. if you look hard, you can find these cars for so cheap.

Thats not hard to fix, but plan on painting the most of the door to fix the fender and the rocker panel (I'm also willing to bet the bottom of the door is bent) with matching/blended paint. I would take the car to the body shop, then offer him what he wants minus the body shop bill. I bet thats gonna be a $2K repair. It does look purely cosmetic though... I did the exact same thing, the body shop took care of it just fine... The outer panel there is just body work.
