Bad shake 20-40mph« » Reply  Edit

Problem happened after i installed my skunk2 chamber kit on my 92 hatch. kyb shocks 2.5" skunk2 springs. Here's the story:

Got the kit and installed it myself. While installing on the driver side i accidentally pulled out the axle from its boot so had the drive side replaced with a reman. axle from pep boys. Everything other than that the install went smooth. Drove it straight to a place to have it aligned. After i got the car back it was driving dead straight no problems but I have a BAD front end shake.

When I accelerate through 20-40mph the passenger front tire shakes bad. it shakes my entire dash and i feel it through my steering wheel. After 40mph its smooth but you can feel very very slight vibration through the steering wheel. This only goes on while im accelerating.
Ex: If im accelerating from 20-40mph the car is shaking bad, the second i let off the gas its not shaking at all and driving smooth.

I've checked all the ball joints, i double checked all the bolts that are attached to the chamberk it. The adjustment bracket is not loose/sliding around. Im kinda stuck here scratching my head.

Im lost

First check the balance on your wheels, I know that might not be the case, since you never felt it before, but it wouldnt' hurt. Did you buy the shocks and springs new?

I'm experiencing the same on my Teg, and would love to hear anybody else's input. Starting to think it's an axle out of balance, but don't think that's very likely.

Usually a vibration under acceleration is from an inner cv joint. grab your shaft and shake it. If you have looseness at the inner cv joint area you probably have found the source of your vibration. An out of balance tire/wheel will have a definate speed to it not a load.
