I'll post the neck bolts in a moment that are on the steering shaft.

Look past this trim where the metal knee guard goes straight across between that and the metal guard ( take that knee guard off).
You'll see one of these on each side it will drop the column that should give you your room.

Thanks man, that was a great diagram! I got all the bolts out but it wont come out. The steering wheel is in the dam way. You are telling me that all I have to do is drop the steering column? Can I run into any problems? Should I just paint the dash while its still on there? What do you think? Would there be any difference?

Dropping the column is easy and straight forward, so you shouldn't run into any problems. Personally I'd take the dashboard out to paint it.

i took the dash out of my dA with out dropping the column. it's tight but if someone takes the weight off of the passenger side of the dash you can squeeze the dash up and over the steering wheel and the light lever, that worked for me numorous times but either way works, good luck

Did you disconnect the harnness from the fuse box? I looked in a "Chilton" repair manual a it says to disconnect. I will continue it on sunday. I really dont want to drop the column but if I paint the dash Im thinking I might damage it putting it back on, if its a tight sqeeze like you say.

I follow your diagram and also a repair manual. Well, I did it today and it was easy. The only thing is I had to disconnect the harnesses from the fuse but after the it came right off. I will post pics of when its off tomorrow. If I can figure it out!he,he!
