the love and fear of owning a triumph....« » Reply  Edit

Well, went on a usual weekend ride this morning, and all was well..Broke in the new 2ct's, and took a couple pics...as seen here:

We all went to breakfast, and afterwards when riding home, my check engine light came on...Bike was running fine, and didn't miss a beat, but alas, I limped it home. Got home, started looking around the internet some, and read all kinds of BS methods to clear the code....And then I came upon it...

Triumph, being the great builder they are...Enabled ANY OBD-2 scan tool to be able to pull codes from the ECU...so a quick trip down to the local autozone netted me use of a scan tool for 3 minutes, and I read, and cleared the code with it. AWESOME

Rode home, and then around the block a couple times...and no more CEL...

cliff notes:
Bike threw code
Triumph kicks ass
Car scan tool works on bike
Autozone hooked up the scan tool free
Code is gone
F japanese bikes.

If I'm not mistaken, that pic has the HDR technique.

Triumph does build a good bike and the company actually cares about issues . Too bad they are too hard to get here and parts waiting is all toooo the norm in Pittsburgh.

I <3 all bikes though.

Nice shot too man. Wish we had some places like that around here.

Did you have to argue with the employee about using a code scanner on a bike?

I really like Triumph's. However I agree a Japanese bike would've never thrown a code to begin with
