I bought a base 02 rsx about 6 months ago and i have 80+ miles on it and im having trouble trying to get them to fix my automatic transmission. these are the problems i have it sticks from 2nd to 5th gear it shifts really hard or it shifts late. i turned it in to have them look at it and they told me that the transmission hangs up to warm up the catalytic converter. i dont believe that answer. im wondering what all i need to fix it. and need help finding some on in Franklin, Brentwood, or Spring hill Thompson station area. i just need help anad the dealrship wont help me.

Have you looked at their OBD2 scan/print out? I'd say trust the dealership because they'd take your money gladly if they could fix it... lol.

However, if they can't find anything else wrong with it, try taking it to another dealership if you have one closeby or a shop who knows a lot and can do a scan for you.

Just ask around and I'm sure you'll find something in that area. After that, you'll need A LOT to get started working on the vehicle to fix the automatic transmission.

Get a Haynes/other complete repair manual for your car. They do a great job of walking you through the steps and all. Also talk to the dealership and/or local repair shops about all of the details; but to quote a friend of mine who was discussing automatic transmission repairs once, "They're about as complicated as a freaking space shuttle it seems like," so best of luck to you. I've never done one myself.

Did they take it on a test drive? I know my friends who work at honda have to that all of the time to replicate what the customer complains about.

i think gary force pay rate is the same as our's. so i dont think he wants to pay $100 just for a scan tool print out.

the most simply way to try to fix the problem, check the fluid level and weather of not it's dirty or not. if so, do a fluid change with good synthetic atf fluid like royal purple or the such and see if that corrects your complaint.

if that doesn't correct the problem, you could also get ahold of a scan tool ( autozone does free code checks, just ask. or i could take it to my work and use our scan tool.) and check for any tranny codes.

80k miles on a auto tranny that could never have any kind of service not done to it could cause a nice headache.

on new hondas, the will set a CEL or the "D" will flash if there is an issue with the tranny. If you take it to the dealership, understand that most techs are flat rate and if the problem isnt occuring when you take it in, they will ship it. you may have to leave the car with them to duplicate it.
