the most simply way to try to fix the problem, check the fluid level and weather of not it's dirty or not. if so, do a fluid change with good synthetic atf fluid like royal purple or the such and see if that corrects your complaint.
if that doesn't correct the problem,you could also get ahold of a scan tool ( autozone does free code checks, just ask. or i could take it to my work and use our scan tool.) and check for any tranny codes.
80k miles on a auto tranny that could never have any kind of service not done to it could cause a nice headache.
